What's the truth re: VWL bus service

When I was there in January, the VWL to MK bus was a direct but now I'm seeing posts about no direct service to MK from the lodge. Confused...

If this is truly gone that is a major bummer. One of the things I loved about VWL was how easy it was to get to MK and from there you can easily "transfer" to just about anywhere.

They are doing some work at the bus stop at MK where the bus lets off from WL. So, no bus service only boat.

Yep...no more bus. We missed it while there last week. One morning the line for the boat to MK was so long it stretched down the ramp around the corner towards the baby pool. You could not see the end. Then we watched as 2 boats went pass us to Fort Wilderness first (their normal routine). One boat came by and only about 12 people got on it and we continued to wait. We waited about 30 minutes for a boat that could get more of us on.

Ouch! That does not sound good at all. MK is the only place we use WDW transportation to.

So maybe we will be taking the boat over to Contemp and hop on the Monorail! 2 rides!!

We missed it too when we were there a couple of weeks ago. We took the bust to TTC and then either the ferry or monorail over to MK a couple of times. The other problem was they had just loaded new safety software, from what I was told, and the monorails kept stopping with some unpredictable spotty service for a day or two.

Still had a great time!

We stayed at VWL in August, and one day we had bus service to MK and the next day we didn't. We were told it was due to the new transportation setup being built, or refurbished, we weren't given details. Just the fact that there wasn't as much room for busses during the rehab. Is the construction over? If not, then maybe the VWL MK busses aren't gone for good.

I don't know where the "construction" was. We went in October, I saw no construction at the busstop. Sometimes I forget these things but my husband does not recall any either. I do remember construction on the roof, the bridge/pond inside the main lodge, and on the waterfall area. I missed the bus but it was nice to get on the monorail again after not using it for a few years.

The construction in at the MK bus stop. It was going on while we are at the CR in September, but I didn't really pay attention when we were there in October (to purchase our DVC!)

There was quite a bit of work left to do in September, so I would assume it is still going on.

The Following information is from my post over on the Resort Board. For futher updates you may check the first page of the Wilderness Lodge FAQ Thread, I will post updates as soon as we receive the information that the construction has been completed.

ATTENTION TEMPORARY CHANGE ON DIRECT BUS TO MAGIC KINGDOM:
Disney has started work over at the Magic Kingdom to the bus drop-off area until work has been completed the direct bus from Wilderness Lodge will revert to the old route from Wilderness Lodge to TTC. We have been told this is temporary. I'll post updates when I receive further information:

Starting Monday August 28 through December 20, due to road construction, the bus from WL to MK will be replaced by a bus from WL to TTC. (Sept 4,2006) No changes to boat service

When I was there in October, there was major construction going on behind a big fence near behind one of the bus stop "arms." There was jackhammering one day when we were waiting for a bus (ended up grabbing one for Saratoga Springs and walking to SSR for lunch rather than stand another minute at that bus stop with a 3 year old) and then another day there was sandblasting or something that sounded like sandblasting going on behind that fence as we were arriving. I guess there are plusses and minuses for WL guests - on the one hand, no direct bus. On the other hand, your hearing is safer? Seriously, though, I am glad to hear they will be done in December.

Thanks for posting this. We'll be arriving at VWL on Dec. 20th and were hoping that the direct bus service to MK would have returned... especially by staying in the Villas, we won't have to hike all the way over to the dock (LOL). Save those steps for in the park

Are you serious!!?? What time was thisn - before MK opened or later?
