I was going to call the thread "junk in your trunk" :rotfl:, but some might get the wrong idea. ;)

Besides regular car related items, what kind of junk/stuff is always in your car?

Today, I was making room in my Subaru to add my bike, when I realized everything in there is outdoor related.

I've got:

a life jacket (PFD = personal floatation device)

a wet suit

hiking sticks

an orange hunting / safety vest

light packable rain jacket

a backpack with outdoor GPS loaded with topo maps & trail maps, bug spray, pepper spray, hat, a loud whistle, headlamp, flashlight and some other items

still had room for the bike

Throw a kayak on the roof racks and I could be a Subaru commercial. :rotfl2:

An old Taco Bell bag.

Empty candy wrappers (3) that I stuffed under the passenger seat because Husband was walking towards the car and I was spoiling my dinner. (I must remember to take them out!)

A shopping bag with a sun umbrella in it.

Two Thomas Guides. One from 1974.

A leather Pirates of the Caribbean shoulder bag that I got from a friend who worked on 1 and 2. It is full of Disneyland stuff like a light jacket and a ballcap in case I end up at the park.

Tools that I have NO idea how to use. Fuses that I DO know how to use.

Three more shopping bags in the trunk just in case I end up at a mall.

A sun-visor for the car.

A water umbrella.

A box of silly things that I meant to mail to a friend two years ago. I lost her address and then forgot about it.

I have

4 cd's

the manual for the car & registration

and a clay baking dish that I bought at a yard sale and haven't taken in yet

A Mickey umbrella.

Several ziploc bags that used to hold cookies. But I ate them.

Maps.

Work papers that I carry home even though I know I'm not going to look at them once I get there.

Receipts for coffees and chicken biscuits stuffed in one of the cup holders.

Gary the snail.

Nerds. The candy type, not the pocket protector type.

Construction paper jungle animals.

A bag of Walkers licorice and my baseball gear (helmet, shoes, glove and my backpack with the coach items in). At this time there really isn't a lot because it is a new car and the dgrdkids haven't spent a lot of time in it yet.

I cleaned my car out the day before I went in to be induced... and I ended up with a c-section so I still haven't driven (o, how i miss my car!) BUT.... I still have the trash bag of crap I took out of it.

It included:
$30 in quarters.
2 baby books
15 pairs of black socks
8 packages of baby thank you cards (I really need to write those...)
2 latex sqeaky pig toys for the dog
4 pairs of shoes [that my swollen feet outgrew in the course of my pregnancy and i tossed in the backseat]
AND!
Several McDonalds Sweet Tea cups, bags from Burger King, McDonalds, Taco Bell and Long John Silvers... (I tossed those)

Laying in there and not in the compartments:
umbrella
blanket
neck pillow
garbage can
a few bottles of water
lots or reusable shopping bags
Mickey tote with misc. things I might need....kind of an extension of my purse, but don't have to carry it around all the time
CDs

Well since every one is going into more detail ;)
the glove box has insurance card, GPS, brush, pen, rings waiting to go to jeweler, coins, fuses, candy
center console has first aid kit, sewing kit, straws, napkins, hand sanitizer, little paper cups, garage door opener, sunglasses

I have way too much random stuff in my car, I'm surprised I can fit myself in there. I have:

-Emergency Survival Kit, complete with reflective blanket, 3000 cal. protein bar, vacuum sealed water, and I'm not sure what else. My dad's office gave them out as Christmas gifts one year, and they had a bunch left.
-roller blades
-ice skates
-athletic pants, tee shirt, and socks (for roller/ice skating, if the mood should strike)
-electric tea kettle
-individual coffee packets, tea bags, sugar packets, and that powdered creamer that doesn't need to be refigerated
-space heater
-fuzzy blanket
-ice scraper
-tissue box
-a whole lot of text books

I also have a little "zoo" in my car. We took a trip to Atlantic City, and somehow, each one of us won a little stuffed animal, but nobody wanted them once we came home. Since we took my car, they kinda just live there now.

In the storage compartment in the back, I have a blanket, a first aid kit, a crank flashlight and a pair of jumper cables.

In the middle console, I have ibuprofen, mints, my Burt's Bees chapstick and my sunglasses.

In the console on the dash, I have my iPod.

In the glove compartment, I have a state map, owners manual and registration and our cities Entertainment Book.

Nothing else ~ I keep my car as tidy as the house. :)

Reusable bags (including one that has my rashguard in it):confused3
Three playbills from the nephews' school concerts
shovel
ice melter
sunshield
snow-windshield thingy
manual for giving meds in the state of MA

1 dig kit, including a pointy 6" trowel, a pointy 4" trowel and a square trowel (all sharpened and all Marshalltown), a good pair gardening shears, a letter opener, bamboo skewers, two measuring tapes, a line level, hair elastics, string, pencils, a dead sharpie, a pair of socks, a ziploc baggie with new pennies, an empty diet Mountain Dew can, a magnifying glass, collapsible watering dish and a flashlight.

1 wide brimmed straw hat

2 rolled up rugs (for sitting in the grass at digs)

2 reusable shopping bags

4 paperback books (One on a guy and a dog, one on the trial of a Holocaust denier, one Jonathan Kellerman, and one I can't remember)

1 tote bag containing a complete change of business clothing

Chess the live performance on 2 CD's

1 tote bag containing a change of dig clothing

sunglasses in a case

1 Book on CD (Small Favors by Jim Butcher)

1 package of mints

1 pair of silver hopp earrings

1 spare pair of glasses

1 glass square bead necklace

1 roll of nickels

1 Kindle 2

1 bottle of Excedrin

1 silver token that I won at a corn maze in MA about 4 years ago

Oh. Almost forgot - one pair of knockabout sneakers.

It says that my Dh is a pig.

2 or 3 travel pillows
my bible
a lint roller
a stack of CD's (in the center console)
assorted garbage from when Dh drove it the other day

Of coures, we have jumper cables, a tire pump, that rooftop bag thing, and a few other car necessities

I am afraid to look in the back, there is no telling what Dh left back there. I have to quit letting him drive my van :confused3

I won't even look in his car, I would have to call for it to be dragged off to the junk yard.

Are we talking about stuff that we have in the consoles as well? If we are, then I am going to need to add:
-a whole lotta CD's
-hairbrush
-umbrella
-pens, pencils, and straws
-GPS and adapter
-perfume
-ACE bandages, assorted sizes
-band aids and first aid cream
-lots of napkins that I stole from Dunkin Donuts.

Currently have a bunch of food wrappers because I just got home from a mini road trip. I have one of those impression ornaments hanging of my dog's paw print. I also have a plastic sandcastle making kit from when I was on the Disney College Program. I have been back for two years, but I refuse to take it out of my car for memory's sake. Also have a rag. I am a very cluttered person and my car is surprisingly somewhat clean right now.

WHERE DO I START?:rotfl2:

Front area - countless water bottles that will end up in the recycle bin whenever I empty my car.

About four coffee cups - I drink coffee on the way to work and always forget to take them back in the house until the weekend usually.

Bill statements, various magazines/books, napkins (clean), umbrella, comb, pens strown through the car, loose change, CDs that have fallen in the floor.

In the back seat - DD's booster seat, markers, coloring books, toys, books.

My car looks like we live in it.:confused3:scared1::rotfl:

Spare clothes for DS and DD
Diapers/wipes for DD (i hope)
Many grocery bags
Maps to various places near and far
Emergency kit
Knee Pads to change tires/chains
Cracker wrappers from Daycare and crumbs
Various art pictures from DS school
I think I finally took the tire chains out
Stroller

in the back of the car are 5 12-packs of Diet Coke because I don't have room for them in the condo. Which means I like Diet Coke and I use my car for storage.

Kleenex, umbrella, jacket, water bottles, garbage bag. I like to be prepared. The Kleenex I use all the time because I have bad allergies....and for the occassional spill.
