What's the strangest thing you've ever seen? (could be in Disney World, on your way to work, etc.)

Let me preface this by saying that I've worked in Manhattan for a
little over 8 years now, and between working here and traveling here to see concerts lo these many years, I thought maybe I'd seen enough to say that nothing would surprise me anymore.

Well! Then came this morning...

Now, I swear, I don't do drugs, and I'm not a drinker - this is
absolutely true! I was heading towards the street to catch another bus to work, when I saw a man on the main floor of Port Authority - dressed in a wet suit, flippers, mask and snorkle. He was just a'flip-floppin' along, and I thought I was seeing things. I held it together until he passed me, and then I just burst out laughing. I saw a cop notice him, too, since he stepped out from behind a pole to continue watching this guy. The thing that made me laugh even HARDER is the fact that - we were the only two people who seemed to stop and notice this guy!! New York City - gotta love it!! :teeth:

I was just sure this was a put-on, maybe by Letterman or Howard Stern or someone. I didn't see a camera or anything, though...

Anyone else?

You are cracking me up! :D I've seen many strange things in my time too, but the strangest (and most disgusting) was an old woman in a bus shelter that pulled down her pants, squatted and proceeded to poop on the sidewalk). If my MIL hadn't been with me that day and seen it too, nobody would have ever believed me.

Your post reminds me of my first trip with BF...it seems like lots of funny and/or weird things happened, but one of the strangest was when we were in San Francisco. We were driving on the freeway, I think from the airport to our hotel, and we saw a man walking along the side of the freeway (not a small road, but a busy freeway!), and the only way I can think of to describe him was that he looked like Father Time. He was wearing this long white robe-thing and carrying a staff, and he had long white hair like Gandolf or Dumbledore.

Oh, and another weird thing was in Anaheim just down the street from Disneyland. There was a witch, like the one from Wizard of Oz, but I don't think it was green, standing on the side of the road. The even funnier thing is we drove around the block to see it again, and when we looked closer, I think it was a MAN! I even took a picture of "it"!!!

Mine happened on Wednesday morning in Las Vegas. We stopped at a gas station near the airport to fill up before we returned the rental car. There was a car at the pump next to us where a man and woman were washing the car. One was using the windshield squeegee to wash the car and the other was using those blue towels to dry the car. They proceeded to empty the blue towels at their pump, so the woman went over to the next pump and started taking those towels. The strangest part of all was the fact that this was not some poor couple with a crappy car. They were driving a Mercedes and were well dressed. I guess they were still too cheap to use the car wash (which was about 100 feet away).

This doesn't really compre to the above stories, but one beautiful spring day I was lying in the hammock in the back yard reading a book drinking a big glass of ice tea, totally relaxed and content. I looked up and about 10 feet away was a peacock! I'd never seen a peacock outside of a zoo before. Anyway I was so shocked I was afraid noone would believe me so I ran over to my next-door neighbor who was cutting her grass and proceeded to show her the peacock. Well, by then the darn thing had moved behind a tree and my neighbor wanted to know what was in that big ol' glass I was drinking from :jester:

I then went inside the house to show my DD and DH and by the time they came outside the peacock was walking back up through the woods. It was then that we noticed 2 peahens coming up the side of the yard headed towards the woods as well. That was so strange and I still can't figure out where they came from.

Another one: a long time ago when DH and I were dating and I was still living with my parents, DH and I were taking a walk and saw a car disappear. Honest to goodness, it was totally bizarre and if DH hadn't been with me and saw exactly the same thing I would've thought I imagined it. We still talk about it to this day and cannot figure out what happened.

My grandma in the buff - enough said!

two pigeons having sex on a statue of george washington.

A totally naked man, on a very hot day, standing at an intersection waiting to cross the street. Everyone was pretending not to notice him, but I beeped and waved... :)

When I was a teenager I was on a bus trip with my youth group. We were driving through Kansas and I looked out the window and right then saw a cow give birth to a calf while standing up. I just saw it drop right out and plop on the ground. Of course no one else saw it and nobody believed me either.

DH and I were out front raking the lawn (this was probably 1995) one Sunday morning. No one else is around. All of a sudden this deer runs down a neighbors driveway across the street (last house on the block, as we live on a dead end) bolts across the street and down another neighbors drive (right across from where he had come from). We run around back and watch the deer run through 2 neighbors yards, through ours, leap over the fence that divides our yard from our other neighbors and just keep going. We don't get deer much around here. It was amazing and no one else saw it!

One day when I was out for a mornng walk (around 6) I saw a wild turkey strutting about. I was about 1/2 mile from home. I was heading home and I guess it thought I was after it because it kept running away from me and I kept heading towards it (cause I was heading home). Finally it went down a side street!

If anyone says they saw two girls... one with bunny ears and one with a feather halo on dancing and drving down I5 to L.A..... Ummm I dont know who they are ;) :o :teeth:

Exactly what I was thinking when I read this! LOL New Yorkers don't even flinch at stuff like that. :)

caitycaity, how disrespectful! I hope you told them to knock it off. ;)

These are all really good!:D

Last year we had a beached dolphin. I've seen a lot of stuff wash up, but nothing like that! A bunch of us threw it back, but it died anyway!:(

I wonder what people think of our family when we show up at a restaurant (or grocery store or gas station) on our way home from the Yankee Peddler festival dressed in our colonial costumes. Sarah and Sue look a bit out of place in their long dresses, but James and I look more than a bit strange.

These are all great stories.

The one that is the funniest.....lets see I'm going to try and get the point across within DIS guidelines...lol! Okay lets see think of things that GLOW IN THE DARK that you buy at your drugstore or get free from the health dept. Okay now think if your DH put it on backwards!!! NUFF SAID!

The second happened in Jackson. You know how the people stand on the side of the road with a sign that says Will Work For Food.....Well there was a man standing there and he had this huge sign but it said "I'M DREAMING OF A BIG MAC AND FRIED!" We had to turn around and look again. We were ROTFLOL....DH says well at least hes being honest.

LoL, Cookie!

After living in NYC for 31 years I could NOT pick just one!!

This reminds me of the first scene of MIB2, when a huge alien worm sailed through the subway tracks, the NYers on the platform lifted their eyes up from their newspaper for a second and when he sped by, they went right back to reading. That's just the way NY is!

I saw a man on the main floor of Port Authority - dressed in a wet suit, flippers, mask and snorkle.

Maybe he didn't do his laundry in a while?

It takes a lot more than that to make us New Yorkers blink.

Ahahahaha! Some of these are hysterical! :teeth:

We were coming home from Virgina Beach, zooming down the highway. There were three men on the side of the road, thumbing a ride. You could tell they were all together, but they were spread out. They knew they weren't going to get a ride, the looks on their faces and their posture tolds us all that they knew. Anyway, the first guy had his arm extended and his thumb out, like any other hitch hiker. The second guy had his arm extended and his thumb out like any other hitchhiker. They both looked bored stiff. The third guy we zoomed past had on a pair of Groucho glasses and was giving everyone "the finger". Aahahaha! :o :p

Regis, "I was at Disney and there was this guy guy holding a fake bird, then he took a picture of Kelly's shoes."
