What's the situation with passports?

This passport thing has really got me confused.
Both DS's passports expire early next year - I've got all the forms to renew them.

I know that the US has delayed the biometric thing till October 2005, does that mean that they will be ok to travel on the visa waiver scheme on the new passports - or will they need to get a visa?

My passport isn't up till 2010, DH is 2013, so we're ok.


Any good sites that have the info in plain english???

As long as you have the new passports before October next year they can travel on the Visa Waiver Scheme

Also everyone gets fingers scanned and photographed on entry to the US now. I just had it done in Los Angeles two weeks ago when I went to DL Resort. It doesn't take that long actually.
