What's the one thing you enjoyed most being solo?

When I was in the World I was amazed at how often conversations would break out with complete strangers.Around here that very rarely happens.

Sometimes I see families where the adults are arguing, or the kids are whining or acting up, and I'm glad I don't have to deal with situations like that. Also, an individual can get from place to place a lot faster than a family with little kids. I like being able to walk briskly through a park.

i've only done half a day solo at animal kingdom, but i loved being able to go wherever i wanted whenever i wanted. i trekked back and forth all over the park and didn't have to worry about tiring anyone else out. it was all up to me! i look forward to that freedom once again when i return solo for 8 days in feb.

I like being able to ride/do my favorites over and over with nobody else to say no. Trips with my family, somebody always hates something, but when I'm solo, I can ride ToT 3 times and be happy about it.

Also, food-wise, nobody second guesses my food choices. If I want ice cream for breakfast (which I'd never do at home, but hey, this is vacation), I don't have anyone looking over my shoulder and judging my choices.:cool2:

I sometimes enjoy just sitting on Main Street watching the crowds and the various things going on.

If I could get refills on coffee I would sit there more often. DL in California did this at one shop in the middle of Main Street. All I had to do was show my receipt for that day. :coffee:

I've done a Disney Convention hosted by the NFFC( met TinkerBell and lots of Disney famous as well as artists, writiers etc.) and Mousefest and had a blast as a solo as well as doing all girl trip with a friend on a number of occassions. I'm looking forward to my next solo trip but breofre that I'm taking my DGD for her 2nd trip...she will be a veteran by the time she is 6 lol. There are just so many cool things to do there!!! The best thing about going solo is... single rider lines!! I was so spoiled while DH was deployed, I don't know how I'm going to adapt to waiting in long lines just so we can ride together!

Being able to get up in the morning, eat breakfast in room, take shower, dress, and be at the park WAY before I could ever get my family out of bed!

Being able to get on all the rides I want before 10 a.m.

Being able to leave the parks when I'm ready.

Being able to sit and smell the roses when the mood hits me. Or watch the street shows. Or take pics with the characters. Or whatever.

So many more than one thing. Many of the same things people have
already mentioned: not tiring anyone else out by walking all over
the place (sometimes back and forth between areas), seeing the
same attraction over and over (I love The American Adventure, I
can sit through it several times in a row), just sitting on Main
Street with a cup of coffee watching the people exit after the
fireworks, chatting with CM's and guests I wouldn't have time to
talk to if I were with my family...

But I guess if I had to pick one thing it would be just wandering.
On my first solo trip (and my first time in the World) I spent
the better part of one day just using the various transportation
around MK. Circled the resorts on the monorail, took it to EPCOT
and back, took the boat to FW and the little one between the
Contemporary and the Wilderness Lodge. And one lazy evening I sat
on the train at MK and did 3 full circles.

I could never do that with my friends or family.

The train is something I really want to ride on next trip. The people watching at MK is the best.

I'm doing a 11 day solo trip in Jan.08' and I'm worried that I won't have fun on the rides alone. I'm excited about my trip, but I'm thinking I won't have any "laughs"? Did you guys have these fears before your first solo trip?

I had a blast. I figured i would just get jammed in to rides but usally got a car or seat to myself and most times it was the first one.
Just go in knowing you will have fun

I was definitely worried about feeling silly as a lone adult. I happen to love many of the 2-minute dark rides in Fantasyland that are most frequently ridden by families :ssst: . The first time through I did feel silly and out of place, but I pretty quickly got over it and just enjoyed myself. :cool2: You are right, not as many "Wow look at that" or ":rotfl2: " moments when solo, but the freedom to choose your own pace and adventure more than makes up for it in my opinion.

My favorite thing to do solo is to just go at my own pace...I loved going to WS in Epcot, grabbing a Bass Ale from the stand in the UK and going to sit and relax at the back of the UK pavilion on a bench for as long as I want....Then heading over to Canada for Off Kilter...No one nagging me to hurry up!

Me too! :yay: :yay: :yay:
Actually its more of refill the halfyard at Rose & Crown, go listen to Off Kilter, then British Invasion then back to Rose & Crown, back to Off Kilter....

oh ya thats how Im spending the afternoons during my two weeks at WDW in just under 4wks from now - its my 50th birthday bash! and I couldnt think of any better way to spend it!

After 22 trips with my wife, I had a convention in Tampa and detoured for a day to WDW. It was pretty weird to be there solo, but I made it work and had fun. I did innoventions, the entire America pavillion, Stitch (it was raining), talked with people (we always do that), and moved at my pace.

The one amazing part was being in all 4 parks in 1 day. I only did 6 attractions - Everest, A Adventures (raining), House of Tomorrow, Stitch, Monsters, and Haunted M. That was a fun day. Also ate at Flame Tree, which DW does not like.
