What's the oddest name you've encountered?

I had a professor in college whose name was Dr. Balls. (Not Ball but Balls.) Fortunately, his first name was Jerry and not Harry.

At my sister's graduation, there was a girl whose first and middle name were "Precious Joy." I'm sure that sounded great when she was an infant, but imagine when her mom got mad at her. ("Precious Joy, you get in here!!!")

After all the names with unfortunate sexual connotations, here is a nice story: I have a business acquaintance whose last name was "Dick." When his daughter got to be junior high age, the teasing was just too much, so they legally changed the entire family's surname to "Dickson." If I had been dating him, I might have insisted on that before I married him, but at least he was willing to change his name for his daughter.

(I work with a guy with the last name of Crapster. He's about the sweetest guy you'd ever want to meet, but I fear that wouldn't have gotten past the first date with a name like that.)

Small world-- I also went to school with a "Precious Joy." I didn't know her well, so I couldn't tell you if she was or wasn't.

My personal two favorites from when I went to school were sisters named "Christmas" and "Electricite' " (Pronounced electricity).

All these names make "Apple" sound downright dull, huh? :teeth:

You know, i used to see these kinds of things and think someone was joking....until I actaully met a few people (starting in High School) with really horrible names.

The typing teacher at my HS was Mrs. D i c k, and yes, her husband's name really was Harold (I actually heard that they've now changed their name, but couldn't confirm that).

At the pentagon, there is a government civilian in one office who's name is Dr. Seuss...and, I SWEAR I am not making this up, there is a Mr. Horton that works in his office :hyper:

I met at least two Sgt. Seargents, and one Major Minor....

But the be-all and end-all of funny names in the puzzle palace:

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you: B i c h (pronounced "beek") Fudge

I wish I could say I was making that up...

Oops...edited to add a girl I went to school with a girl named Sunday, who married a guy I went to school with who's last name was Monday...::yes::

There is a kid at our school named Three-In-One. (FIrst name)

Brooke Lynn Ann Queens.

Queens was her real last name, get it?

Pronounced like Brooklyn and Queens.

Her parents were 16 when they had her and thought it was funny. Poor girl, she went to our high school and everyone talked about it.

When I stopped to get gas the other day, the cashier's name was "Dizione." Now, I'm sure it's pronounced something like "Dee-ZI-on", but I wonder how many times it's been mispronounced "dizzy one." :p

I went throughout school K5-High School with a girl named Timber. That was her first name. Very unusual, I don't know what the meaning is.

I also worked with a girl whose first name was Tangela.

I was watching Oprah yesterday - as they were transforming Paige Davis's (Trading Spaces) apartment. She said that her husband's last name was Page. Had she taken his name, she would have been Paige Page.

Her real name is Mindy Paige Davis. She mentioned that on the Wedding Story when they were filming her wedding. Patrick actually calls her Mindy.

On another note, I went to school with a girl named Meg Hoar, sometime she'd be called Mega

My DS went to preschool with twins Clarke and Addison for all you Cub fans. A girl at work is named Clarissa Turnipseed:sunny:

I have a friend who's neice is named Hunter Anna Fisher. (Her dad is apparently quite the outdoorsman... :p )

I had a Dr. Payne as a dentist once! And the name fit.

I know someone who changed his name to "Coke Is It." I think maybe he was on coke?

My sister married Robert Roberts. Her daughter had a baby and named him after her boyfriend, Robert. So the family now has 2 Robert Roberts.

My daughter, Nikki, once dated a guy named Nick. We had fun with that one.

I knew a Mary Seaman who legally changed her kids' names because they were picked on so much.

A girl in my office just had a baby girl and named her Lhotse
It means South Peak and is part of Mt. Everest.

I am starting to get used to it, but it is kind of strange in my mind.

Oh my gosh these are making me laugh so hard! I work with a guy named Sompit Thongkum. I don't know what it means but the name always conjured up a laugh.
