My friend used to work in child care and she insists she once had twins at her daycare named "Lemonjello" and "Orangejello." Pronounced le-MON-jalo and or-RAN-jalo! They were literally named after jello....
The school I had my last practicum experience in had an "Aquanette." Her mom wanted to name her Aqua, which is bad enough, but then there was the old family tradition of all the girls being "ettes," like Annette, Bridgette, etc... Poor girl, to be named after cheap hairspray.
I worked at a Pest Control company in California and one day a client called in to get service and when she said her name I almost fell off my chair. She said this is Mrs. Harry Dickensheets.
I know a gentleman named Richard Silverwood. For those sports fans out there in the U.S.A., there's the former NFL defensive player Harry Colon and the racecar driver Dick Trickle.
At church, our former pastor's mother's name was Ima Hickey.
I was watching Oprah yesterday - as they were transforming Paige Davis's (Trading Spaces) apartment. She said that her husband's last name was Page. Had she taken his name, she would have been Paige Page.
I went to high school with a Rosie Meadows, and know a Marie Christmas.
I know I've encountered funny names, but can't remember any....but my dad's family had the oddest names I knew of. Laimonis, Ilmars, and Miervaldis. (They were all Latvian.)
