What's the next "wave" of changes at WDW?

With the massive renovations at Epcot completed and with massive projects now cranking up at all 3 of the other parks, it might feel like we're not going to get any major announcements, perhaps for a few years.

BUT....Disney has promised unprecedented spending in parks for many years going forward...which certainly implies more to come.

So what do YOU think? Once this current wave is done is it....

Back to more at Epcot? Upgrade of Destination Station to something with Disney IP? Is there even any room left for more at MK? Maybe something for the coming Avatar sequels? Or something totally unrelated to the core 4 parks?

Look, they say they're going to spend the money, right? So let's see if we can guess what it will be spent ON!

I’d like to see another ride in Pandora at AK, maybe an undersea simulator. A third ride in Galaxy’s Edge would be nice as well. AK, HS, and Epcot could all use some more rides, especially family rides.

For Epcot, I was thinking they could put an indoor spinner in the Germany showroom. It would be like tea cups only wooden barrels, and it could play different songs from Snow White and Tangled while it spins. It could also use rotating audio animatronics like those in COP to switch from Snow White to Tangled theming. Could also use different projections and lighting to switch from daytime to night. So each ride could be different from the last.

At Studios, they could retire the Indy stunt show in favor of a Star Wars one, then change Backlot Express into a Star Wars restaurant. They could do multiple shows in the theater - bring back the Jedi trial show for kids in the morning and early afternoon then switch to a full on stunt show in the late afternoon and evening.

Love it all!

I just want to have a day where I go to the parks and all the rides I go on give the full experience (no B-modes, no broken animatronics, no broken speakers, etc). I've rode on RotR multiple times, never once has everything worked, and that's one of the newest most expensive attractions. I feel like even though I go to the parks more than the average guest, there are so many things that I still have not actually had the full experience on. I don't need anything new right this second, I want to ride the things that I've been going on for years that just don't work.

The sweet spot right now is dark rides with a little thrill to 'em. Real design elements (no screens).

Think Spaceship Earth with a few twists & mild drops. Now imagine a Star Wars or a Beauty & the Beast theme. Yahtzee!

One of my current dream rides would be for Galaxy's Edge, which sorely needs something with no height requirement. It would basically be like Spaceship Earth - an Omnimover taking you through the history of the Republic framed as educational. It could be the Batuu History Museum. It would show a scene from the Old Republic/High Republic, then of course events leading to the Clone Wars, fall of the Republic, Imperial rule, then the formation of the New Republic. They may be able to plus that up with special effects, but no drops or anything, just a straight Omnimover.

Would be incredible!

I'll guess that Epcot gets more attention with the next wave (yes, really). Although I would be curious about when they might decide to give WDW Space Mountain a big overhaul.

It's crazy to think, since Epcot just got rid of the last of the construction walls. But it makes sense. MK, AK, HS all had major land expansion announcements at D23. Test Track should be ready in 6 months give or take. Maybe do something different with Mission: Space? Or a Mary Poppins ride at the UK?

Although I would be curious about when they might decide to give WDW Space Mountain a big overhaul.
Not sure how I feel about this, so nostalgic in there!

I might have missed that, but really looking forward to the new lands at AK HS and MK-if they happen. Also agree they really talked up future investments, so hoping they stick to it even further.

All of Tomorrowland needs a big overhaul. Maybe even a rename/retheme. I mean, there really isn't that much "tomorrow" in Tomorrowland. Disney just got stuck in the mid-century rut of space=tomorrow. And don't get me started on how we're a quarter of the way into the "new century" mentioned in the final scene of CoP.

It could use some love for sure, but doesn't need to change names. It's fine being that future that never was, but they also need to improve some dated attractions. I would:
  • Tomorrowland Speedway gets all-electric vehicles.
  • Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor moves to the new Monsters Land (or a new show) at HS
    • Replace with something more Sci-Fi based - could still be a theater show, maybe Big Hero 6?
  • Updates to the Carousel of Progress - start in the early 20th century, move to Mid-20th, 2000's-ish, then today or near future.
  • Put SOMETHING in the North show building - anything at all! 🤣
That's do it for the most part.

The alien / space theme was intentional, to avoid having to update the land so often.

In the early 90s, CoP was suppose to be retired and replaced with a “flying saucers” type attraction. The idea was visited again in the mid-2000s, only with a Toy Story aliens theme. The only reason it’s still around is because Disney slashed the budget for Tomorrowland rebuilds.

I remember when I went to DL as a kid and rode Adventure Thru Inner Space in Tomorrowland. They should bring it MK with updated effects.

Obvious things to think would happen:
EPCOT:
1. Wonders of Life Pavilion redo
2. Germany Ride
3. One or Two more Countries
4. Imagination Pavilion Redo

MK:
Stitch's Great Escape replaced

MGM Studios:
GE Expansion Pad used
Launch Bay repurposed

AK:
Pandora expansion pad used
My gut tells me there's room for more at Tropical Americas as well
