This is inspired by Mermaid02's Fatigue thread.

Lately they've been advertising for a new non-prescription drug for people who are always tired even though they get proper sleep, etc. It's called something like Altovise or something beginning with an "A", I can't remember.

Does anyone know what it is called, and has anyone tried it?

I know what you're talking about and I've been wanting to look it up too, but I can never remember the name either.

Oh man, I saw this on a commercial last night when I couldn't sleep and started to write it down because I really wanted to look it up, but thought, nah, I'll remember in the morning. UGH! I saw that you could request a free 30 day sample. If anyone knows, please post it.

I'm watching a commercial right now that might be what you are talking about.. avlimil. They mention a 30 day sample, but it seems more for libido than regular energy.

Anything that gives you energy in a pill form scares me. I'd be afraid it's a legalized version of speed. Esp. since it says not to take it if you have heart propblems or high blood pressure. YIKES.

The Advimil is something different, but I think it's from the same company.

This "drug" isn't really a drug, it's more of an herbal suplament. That being the case, it's also not reviewed by the FDA.

I see this comercial every night and keep telling myself I'll look it up in the morning, but I never remeber it. I told DH to write it down once but I don't know what he did with it???

And the problem with this is.......??

Haven't seen any commercials, but my neurologist prescribes Amantadine and Provigil (not sure on the spelling of that one) for extreme fatigue in multiple sclerosis.

You might want to try ginseng or check that you are getting enough iron.

No, that's not it. Ugh! It's driving me crazy!

ITA. As if caffeine isn't bad enough... something else to get addicted to, I'm sure.

Thanks Princess, I was just going to give this thread a bump to see if anyone had seen the ad and remembered the name.

Ok, anyone going to try it?

GrinningGhost, do you find these medicines helpful? I don't have MS, I have Mitochondrial Disease, but I'm really sort of hopeful that we'll try something that will ease the fatigue...

I didn't get much relief from Amantadine, but the Provigil seemed promising - I only got the free trial pack so far. It's actually prescribed for narcolepsy (the falling asleep disease), so it's kind of powerful. I'm not sure I'd want to take it all the time.
