I am just curious if anyone caps their spending on a per pin basis?

I had to so dbf didn't seize my checkbook.lol. SO I was curious as to what people would be willing to spend on one pin.

The most I have spent on a single pin is 50.00 but that was through ebay. On framed sets I have spent 20.00. But I have received framed pin sets for gifts and they purchased them at original cost which was around 70.00.

I would have to say that the limit is 50.00, but I won't be doing that again. (unless my holy grail comes up)

I usually limit myself to gasp $15 for a pin. I have a couple of times paid up to $18 but never more than that. That is why I am just a medium size fish.

I went up to $58 for one pin on ebay, but that was for the Divas Logo from the Villains event at DL. I've really been wanting that one! Under normal circumstances I may go to around $15 to get a pin from Japan or Paris, but most of the time I just stick to the ones I can get here at home.

The most I have ever spent on a pin is $35 (for my most precious pin...WDW LD/FD. I don't think I would spend much more than that....

The most I spent on any pin was $30 for the Mickey and Minnie 4th of July light up musical pin.
I have never bought anything on e-bay and don't think I ever will. My pocketbook is too small to fit e-bay in it. I already have my DVC in there and won't give that treat up ever.
I feel that if I am meant to have the pin I want I will get it someday. I have always been lucky and there is nothing special that I want right now. A Wet Paint or Mickey for President would be nice, but I guess I am not meant to have them yet.
The most special thing for me now is finding pins that others want and being able to give them something for one of my traders, and of course meeting all you wonderful people... That is priceless. Peggie

Oh, Peggie, you are too much. How sweet is that? I can't wait to see the Speedo/Boa Battle coming up.

If I want the pin and it is rare or really hard to get I have been known to spend 25 to 50 bucks for a pin... And more a few times. I don't go after the latest and greatest pin any more bit have narrowed down to a select few pins I want and they are very hard to find... and in some cases I can only get them from ebay...

The most I've spent on a single pin is $35. That was for a Disney Auction pin I really wanted. Generally I limit pin purchases to no more than $18 for a single pin.

About a year and a half ago I thought my life would be complete if I had the Mickey for President. I watched it on ebay, as I knew that there would never be a chance of me ever trading for it.

I sat up late one night, and they were usually going for a pretty high price. I saw one going for about $100 - with the guidance of Shirley - I sat on the auction and just before it went off I bid $100.

I won the pin - and have since seen them go for quite a bit more.
With the help of Nat I was able to trade for the Inaguration Pin, so I have the set.

I always look at these pins and think if I need a fast couple hundred dollars it is right there - but really like the pins and think I would hold on to them.

It is funny because that same night the Peachident and I were talking and he told me that if I did not win the auction that he would trade me a Mickey for President. I knew I did not have anything actually worth that pin that he could possibly need, so that was very kind of him.

I love my Mickey for President and I am glad I won the auction - the way I look at it, I actually got it about half price. lol.

Ummmm lots.....maybe like $138...but only every once in a while for something really special.

I think the highest I paid was for a Disney Auctions LE 100 pin--if I recall correctly I shelled out $40. and then traded it for 2 LE Cinderella pins I really wanted (that probably I could have had for less than $20 each--but hey live and learn). these days I have capped myself at $15-$18 for LE's that I am having a hard time trading for---but went as high as $25 for a difficult pin I needed to complete a set and didnt feel like waiting for (I KNOW I will see the pins going for less than $20 in a few weeks but hey, sometimes the extra $5 is worth the convenience!)

$125.00 on eBay for a single pin that I wanted very much. Don't regret it either. I did my research for quite a while and this was what the pin was selling for. This is the way I look at it....I would rather have this pin than a bunch of others that I don't like as much. Life is too short...if you really want something, go for it!!!

Yikes... we just bought a pin from Disney Auctions for $160, and another for $75. That's the most I've ever or will ever spend. I swear! ;)

Stacey was that the pin from the auction at last years pin event in Epcot?

I think, ordinarily, I stay in the $15-$20 range.

However, I have gone to $25-$30 for something very special, like a Disney auction pin.

Of course, we're talking hard cash here.

I've certainly made trades that were equal to more than these examples....two or three $12-!5 pins for one must have pin.

And for those of you who know what I traded to get my DS#2 his Wet Paint pin....let's not go there.  :(

On the flip side of that transaction...I learned a valuable lesson: Sharks may take many forms.

Nat, yes it was one of my two wins that day. The Chip and Dale "All American Backyard Barbacue" prototype was my most expensive pin, followed by the 4 pin set of prototypes for the Port Orleans mystery pin.
Stacey

Stacey, it is funny I was just talking with larry about the 4 pin proto types... We both love the way the pins were done in different colors.

They are nice. My Mom specifically collects resort and cruise pins, so I bought it for her as her x-mas gift last year. Pins sure is one way to blow through a severence payout, I can tell you that!!! Right now she has them framed in a oak 5x7 frame with a maroon backing. The simpilicity lets these pins speak for themselves. The Chip and Dale, well Ive framed them about a dozen times so far and Im STILL not satisfied.

But wait, I take it back those arent my most expensive pins. Anyone who is a DVC member, those flag and WLV pins werent really free-- so I think those are my most expensive pins!!
