What's the "job" each crewmember has to do on Mission Space?

I hear that each crewmember on MS is assigned a task to do at a certain time during the flight. What are the tasks? How difficult are they? Anyone so distracted by the ride itself that they forgot or didn't pay attention and do their job at the right time? And if one crewmember doesn't do his/her job, does it spoil the ride for the others?

I'll be at WDW end of Sept. and hope to ride MS, but I'll be with my parents and they won't ride. DH and DD are expecting me to ride, but I'm worried that 1) I'll be concentrating so hard on keeping my head back and watching the screen (so I don't get sick) that I won't do my "job" and I'll miss some of the fun and 2) the three strangers riding with me won't have as much fun either!

Don't worry - if you don't want to, you don't have to do anything at all - what you are doing doesn't affect the ride in any way. It's "psychological interactivity", i.e. making the guest feel they've accomplished something when what they did doesn't make a difference whatsoever. In fact, your co-rider probably won't even notice whether or not you do your "job".

Of course, your job doesn't amount to more than pushing two buttons when you are instructed to do so, so it's not exactly difficult. I usually play along; it just makes the experience more complete.

Have fun, and don't stress too much. It's a great ride, and as long as you sit back and enjoy the ride, you'll be fine. Just don't take your eyes of the screen.

Thanks for asking Carolyn...and thanks for the answer too, wdwguide.
I was wondering the same thing. Im afraid of being put on the spot, especially where strangers are concerned. Glad its nothing to worry about. :D

If somebody doesn't push the button when they are suppose to you will hear a computer override announcement though.

Your button will flash when it's time to push it and the announcer will be announcing the upcoming action excitedly and telling you to get ready to activate and then yell now. The buttons are very close to where your hands are holding on, it won't be hard to realize when to push. I was afraid I would be too distracted as well, but was too afraid not to push, I didn't want to mess anything up. It wasn't a problem, and the audio going on is very insistent and then the light begins to flash, you won't miss it. It's a very intense ride, it causes you to focus & concentrate really hard which is good because I think that helps not to notice the spinning.
