Okay - I'm on a strict budget....have a 2 yo (he's easy); a 9yo (Bakugan everything!) and a 12 yo daughter .....what are the hot ticket items....last year I wound up buying a price-gouged Wii and Guitar Hero on E-bay b/c I waited too long....any suggestions???? Anyone hoarding yet == finding that special hiding place (way in the dark recesses of the closet)?? Thanks for any ideas.

My DS 8 also loves Bakugon - we can't find them in any of the stores here, they are always sold out.

My son got his at the Japanese Pavilion in Epcot in August -- I didn't even know what it was then.....I looked on E-bay - talk about price-gouging , ugh!

My kids are getting the Wii this year (none to be found last year). I think the Wii Fit is pretty popular this year.

We just bought a WiiFit about a month ago, and we were looking for one for weeks before we found one in stock somewhere, so I definitely would say it's a hot item right now, and probably will be through the holiday season.

Yup .... thought of that myself ...saw that it's tough to find so I assumed everyone is after it....what else, hmmmmmm

Just FYI on the Wii...I got mine by putting my name on a waiting list at Blockbuster. I got called a few days after. It's worth a shot...

Our kids big gift last year was Wii (never thought I'D love it, but I do!!!) We also go them DDR for it. I thought this would be only for my oldest but I was so wrong all the kids and me and my husband LOVE it and it is great exercise! Something to think about, it is soooo fun but I had to wait at the store 3 days in a row for it because I was not willing to buy it on e-bay. We had an easier time getting the Wii. For that we knew when they were coming in so we waited in the freezing rain and sleet for 5 hours (but hubby and I went together and only had to go once.)

But I do think the older 2 kids will enjoy the DDR.

Bakugan is a tv show - sorta anime - kinda Pokemon-ish..... the Bakugan toys are these balls (about the size of a golf ball) that open up and inside are these little figures (good vs. evil ones) and then they come with cards (sorta like Pokemon) and then they battle each other....I think that's a pathetic summary but that's what I got out of it when I watched the show with my son for a few minutes and they doled out some cash for the toys...but there are always more, more, more Bakugan to collect ...just as an aside, it's funny how all the toys now seem to be designed to become an "addict" of them (vs. a collector)...the Webkinz craze, etc..... just really not healthy ....

The lst. time my DS mention Bakugan - I had no clue of what he was talking about! One day it was Pokemon - the next day Bakugan.

They have even raised the price of them in the store when you can find them.

for us the 2 big ticket things this year are a DS for my 4yo and an Ipod for my 8yo.
other than that i dont really know.

My DS6, has been collecting Bakugan, for about 1 1/2 years. They are sooo hard to find!! They have come out with some new accessories lately and series 2, just came out...so hopefully, they won't be so hard to get. But I am picking my Bakugan up, as soon as I see it!!:)

My DS5 is also asking for Bakugan. Is he too young or will he be able to follow the game OK? FYI - he got his DS at 4 and does great with that.

Does anyone know if there is a Bakugan DS game or are they coming out with one?

I asked that very same question at the Game Stop (video game store) the other day ....the gamers who work there said about a year before they release any type of Bakugan game for any platform..... so that's off my list for now.... what else does an 8 or 9 yo boy like....it's much tougher for the boys than the girls to me....My daughter was easy, even at that age. Now she's 12 - gift cards will do, Uggs, ipod accessories, cell phone stuff....and of course, all things Disney :);)

Oops, I almost forgot .... now that Harry Potter has gone days of yore, so to speak, my DD loves loves loves the Stephenie Meyer Twilight series - so t-shirts, posters, etc. might be a good idea for that age group ...even some of the boys at school are reading them (sorta teen romance meets good vampires)

DS 8 wants the following for Christmas or my bday as he says (it is in Oct) Legos-all the police ones, Star Wars Clone wars helment and gun and a drum set. He is not in to Pokemon or Bakugan. Legos are really big at his school now and he is still in to Webkins too.

Umm ditto! LOL

Lex wants a better ipod than the shuffle, Nick wants a ds. Nothing else has been asked for. I think we are getting them a wii as a group gift. I usually get a coupld sears catalogs and let them cut stuff out and paste them on construction paper as a list.

As a side note, this has worked well for us, it's something my family does at xmas and birthdays. After the kids pick everything out I cut out the descriptions. I number all the pictures of what the kids want and then put the corresponding description on another sheet of paper. Then I make photocopies for anyone who wants one. It makes it easier for family ( esp older family members) to find the exact items the kids wants. My mom started it when we were little and now my sister and cousins all do it as well. actually I even have a few friends who started the tradition too.
