What's the fastest booking room within DVC?

In your opinion or experience, what DVC resort/view/type of room books up the fastest? I'm sure this depends on the time of year, so you can include that if you know. I'm trying to decide which resort to buy into so I can book at the 11 month mark. I'm mostly interested in booking a 1-br and some time down the road when DS 3yr grows bigger, possibly a 2-br.

Probably New Year's Eve at BLT and the EPCOT resorts.

In general, anything that is relatively limited in supply will book quickly. This would include the concierge category and the value category at AKV Jambo, the MK view and standard view at BLT, the standard view and Boardwalk view at BWV, the dedicated 2 bedroom villlas at BCV that have two queen beds in the second bedroom, and the THV at SSR.

Then you must consider season. The EPCOT resorts are very popular and quick to book during Food & WIne Festival time. Early December is very popular, period. VWL is especially popular for the Thanksgiving - New Year's Holiday season.

Room size also matters. Studios generally book faster than 2 bedrooms which book faster than the 1 bedrooms. The relatively inexpensive Grand Villas at OKW also book very fast and often are not available at 7 months.

There are other examples and I'm sure others wll chime in.

It is possible to get even the more difficult cateogries at 7 months, although it cannot be relied upon every time. Those who are successful most often, call right at 7 months and use the waitlist as necessary. They generally make a reservation at their home resort during the home resort booking priority period and then try to switch when the 7 month window opens. HTH.

I can't think of any others, AKV concierge is very quick due to the small number of them.

Do yourself a favor and buy where you love to stay, not where others book.

People love BLT and the park view books early, but BLT is our least favorite resort and we own there! It's a nice resort but it just doesn't give us the same Disney feel as the other resorts.

It seems as if the standard view villas at BWV and all at BCV book fairly early, especially in October and November.

YES! :thumbsup2

Buy where it appeals to you, not where other people book up first. Booking trends change a lot. Concierge at AKV used to book insanely fast, but I have seen less posts about it lately. The point costs is high, so I don't a lot of members are only staying there. Your most consistently sought after rooms are the lower point values at a resort...so usually any resort that has Standard Views, etc. Members are generally thrifty with their points and while they might spring for a Boardwalk/Magic Kingdom view type rooms on occasion, many will not want to put those points out every trip when they could do standard view and add another trip or extra days (there are always exceptions to this rule, but generally speaking).

I always thought that the concierge rooms at AKV are in the smallest supply...

...but that's NOT the case....

IIRC, there is ONE grand villa at AKV-K that is classified as STANDARD view, instead of savanna view.

I would think that if people are springing for the points for a grand villa, they would want the savanna view so perhaps this standard view GV sits empty alot:confused3.

Interesting, the points re-allocation hit concierge level stays rather hard, but this anecdotal evidence suggests it has had the desired effect.

VWL for the Thanksgiving-New Years books early because of the decorations and closeness to MK.
I agree with the pick out the resort you would be most happy staying at not what others book theme. I think BLT is interesting and may want to stay there some day but would much rather be in my OKW 1 BR with the big balcony and quiet peaceful feeling after a day in the parks. We also love OKW because the 1 and 2 BR villas have more room for the children to move around and play when we are in the villa. You may like the feel of AKV more or want to have access to SAB as a priority so should consider those properties. We thought we wanted the SAB access and bought points there. The villas themselves just aren't that special unless you get one of the huge balconies but the closeness to EPCOT is a good reason to stay there. Since we have owned those points, bought presale, we have only stayed there 3 times - number 4 is coming up in Dec. I did book it at exactly 11months since it is the first week in Dec and all DVC units get booked early for that week. Also don't forget the young child today will be a teenager some day so don't buy based on what is most likely to appeal to the child - buy what appeals to you.
Good luck with your decision and let us know what it is.

I feel the same way about BLT. Don't own there but saw the models. All I can say is "Eh".

What is SAB?

I agree with that logic completely. I own at AKV and have opted for the standard view Kidani rooms over the savannah view. I like saving those points and I'm over the savannah after the first two times, quite honestly.

I also own at VWL and thank goodness they don't have view categories there! It's nice and simple!
:cool2:

Ok, I'm not great at all the abbreviations, but SAB has me baffled. Is that a resort or a type of transit? [edit: never mind, i see the answer]

I didn't know there were AKV concierge rooms, so I'll check that out. I hear raves about OKW and VWL so often, I may have to stay there one year.

Hubby LOVES BWV for its on-site micro-brewery and access to the bars/clubs without having to go to pleasure island. (I keep thinking he will outgrow it, but he is 42 and hanging tight). So we might buy there.

But then . . . I see what a great pool BCV has and thought, well maybe that's the place to buy so we can book a BW view at 11 months at BCV (do they have BW view villas at BCV?) and still walk to the boardwalk stuff.

If I stayed at AKV, I wouldn't care about the view, since I hear there are great viewing areas all around the hotel, so I wouldn't bother buying there for the 11 month advantage.

One further question . . . do people ever transfer points and have someone book 11 months out at their home lodge for them? I hope this make sense.

The DVC villas are a wing @ BC and have no BW views. From the lake you only see cash rooms.
I think there is quiet pool and general landscaping views only. (With a very slight top of EPCOT might be possible from some top floor rooms)
