I did post this on the restaurants board but got no responses so I figured I would try it here.....

What's the difference (if any) between the Tonga Toast offered at Kona's cafe and the banana stuffed french toast offered at AKL (room service)? It sounds the same and I would think that if it was, AKL would call it Tonga Toast. Just curious.

Thanks!!

Maybe because "Tonga" is a Polynesian not African word???

I haven't seen the recipe for the kind from AKL, but I've noticed that other recipes that seem similar from one restaurant or resort to another have minor variations.

From Deb's site, sure looks similar........

AKL room service.......
Banana Stuffed French Toast - with cinnamon and sugar served with syrup and butter $9.99

Kona Cafe..........

Tonga Toast - banana stuffed sourdough bread, rolled in cinnamon-sugar with choice of ham, bacon, or sausage $7.99

I know I like Kona's. :)

Don't know the answer, but they both sound very UNappetizing! YUK!:(

Give me a serving from each, and I'll let you know.;)
