Our meal plan says this :

Mickey's Plan, 6 days of Disney Dining
Adult vouchers ($215.59 per adult):
1 - Character Breakfast
1 - Character Lunch
1 - Character Dinner
2 - Breakfast in the Park
3 - $5.00 Vouchers
4 - $10.00 Vouchers
3 - $15.00 Vouchers

What is the difference between "Character Breakfast" and "Breakfast in the park" Where are some of the places that do these?

The only character breakfast in the park is Minnie and Friends at the Plaza Inn. Breakfast in the park could mean Riverbell Terrace, Carnation Cafe, Cafe Orleans, or Tomorrowland Terrace. I believe those are the restaurants that serve breakfast. Maybe Blue Ribbon Bakery counts for pastries and coffees?

I didn't know about this board when I booked the trip. It's all paid for already, well the deposit is at least lol. So now I can't cancel anything. Just trying to make my plans for the trip and reservations and all that fun stuff. I hope I don't regret using it. :confused3

I think the biggest thing is that it is not a savings. It should still be convenient. Remember they don't give change, so if you go to spend a $10 voucher, make sure you are spending $10 or more. There is probably some strategy involved in that?

Well if it's already paid for then do it, but next time don't, it's not that great a deal. If you find you can't use them all you might be able to eBay them.

As for character meals in the parks, in DL there is only breakfast at M&F's, in DCA there is also breakfast at Ariel's Grotto. Depending on your group you may want to do AG, but you will get a lot of characters doing Minnie's, man, we saw so many characters there!!!

Report back and let us know what you thought of the meal plan when you get back from your trip! I know there are a lot of people that have looked at the plan and said it didn't seem worth it to them but honestly I don't think there has been too much info from people who have actually used the plan and others might find your experiences helpful. So take good mental notes and report back to us!

"Breakfast in the Park" is a voucher for ANY place that sells breakfast. It is NOT a character meal voucher.

At DCA, it can pretty much only be used at Pacific Wharf Cafe, as that's the place that sells breakfast there. AT DL there are more options.

If you booked using Walt Disney Travel Company, or a company that uses them (AAA, Costco, maybe getawaytoday.com), you can make changes. They have the right to charge you a change fee, but they don't always do that. In '07 first we booked (through Costco Travel which uses WDTC) at PPH with the dining plan. Then changed it to Carousel without the dining plan. Then back to PPH without the dining plan, as I'd read more about it. They were so sweet and never charged the change fee (though I expected that they WOULD do so each time).

With vouchers, as Queen mentioned, if you spend under the voucher, you do NOT get change back. If you spend over it, you have to pay cash out of pocket (or with a card, whatever, LOL).

YOu also don't have to get the plan for every day of yor trip, unlike at WDW! You could have a 6 night stay, but only get the plan for 3 days, if you wish to. You just get the vouchers, it's not linked to your card or anything (you can get the plan booking offsite with a package, even).

So I called Disney dining and you were right- It is one breakfast with Minnie and friends, and then the other two have to be used at River Belle Terrace in the park.

Im trying to decide what to do on what days... ahhhhhh so hard to plan every detail when you are not a planner lol

I have always been in the opposition to the meal plan. It was not a savings like WDW. However, I am surprizing my family with a trip and it was just easier to add this than stand the risk of DH finding my stash of Disney gift cards and Disney Dollars. Cash is too tempting to try to save!
I was told bt Disney Dining that you the breakfast in the park vouchers have a face value and you can use them towards a lunch. They said it has an $8 value. My plan is to use the meal vouchers for Blue Bayou and WCT but give them the amount just under the bill and round it up with real cash. That way we will not lose any money. As for the snack vouchers. They said it also has a face value. So if I get a churro and diet coke, I'll give them a voucher and a dollar. I'll get a few coins back. I'm not going until November but I do plan to report back as I hope others will so I can see if it does in fact work the way the CM's said. We all know how they can be!

I though i posted my question in here but I don't see it???

My question was if you can USE the breakfast in the park at M&F or is that considered a character meal and would have to use one of our character meal vouchers?

the breakfast in the park is separate from the character breakfast. The character breakfast has its OWN voucher.

The Minnie and Friends breakfast is a character meal. I don't know if you could use the voucher, but the voucher is only worth something like $10 per person, IF that, so it wouldn't go far there.

I don't know why they are so cagey about that one...it's almost like they are trying to trick their customers into thinking it's a character meal voucher.

they tricked me...I actually first dropped the plan b/c I thought it was too many character meals...4 night stay, booking through Costco meant we got a "free" (included) character breakfast, and it seemed that we'd be getting THREE character breakfasts, which was just too many for us. So I canceled that, then later found out it would not have been a character meal, but I only knew that b/c of fan sites, b/c the official site didn't have that info on it AT ALL.

You'll see the value when you get your packet after final payment is due, though!

yeah because on the DL.com website it reads as "laza Inn "Minnie & Friends - Breakfast in the Park" hosted by Kellogg's" which to me seems like THAT is the Breakfast in the park we are getting. So I guess we are out of luck with that one. :(

I used them the very first time I went to Disneyland, it was easy and I did well. I learned over the years to just use a gift card, or cash. I will tell you, Always use the full voucher, use the ten dollar ones for meals like burgers and such, you will need to go over the amount to save as if you get something 8.99 or less you loose money, we always got 2 burgers and then doled out cash. Now days its best to use cash, or gift card but you still can have a great time using them if you do it right :) Have a great trip!!

They can be used at Pacific Wharf Cafe in DCA too.

So to be CLEAR on this, sorry if i don't understand. The breakfast in the park is for Minnie and friends? right???

no. The breakfast in the park vouchers are just for a restaurant in the park that serves breakfast. If it says "Character Breakfast" then it is the Minnie Breakfast.

yeah, its worth about 8.00 ( or was when I got the package. its probably worth 10.00 now.

go with the flow, make some reservations if you want to eat at a nicer joint, ( cafe orleans etc ) and make reservations to the character breakfasts, then just go with the flow with the rest of the vouchers. you can spend them any where in the park on foods :) if you have some left over ( we did ) on the day you are leaving just have a nice sit down meal.
