What's the difference in the campsites?

Good morning everyone!
Fort Wilderness is my family's favorite spot at WDW but we've always stayed in a cabin. I was looking at Disney's site to get info on the campsites and I can't tell what the difference is between a full hook up, preferred and premium campsite. We are thinking about a travel trailer and the world of RV's is new to me. What's the difference in those sites? Is it location?

Thank you!

Well I am not gonna be the best person to answer this for you as I have only been in the 1900 loop with a travel trailer and small 5th wheel (no slide outs) and the 800 loop with 5th wheels with slide outs. Because, I am just real darn picky about where I stay at the Fort. But since no one else has answered you so far I'll give it a shot.

So here are the two differences from the Full hook up and Premium. Yes location is gonna be a difference, but the biggest difference that I know of and why I book Premium and pay the extra money is the Premium sites are wider with a lot more cement. That means that all of my 5th wheel including the awning and my outdoor rug will be on cement. In the full hooks the sides are not paved as wide and have a lot of crushed shell along the sides instead of the extra cement area. I don't want to my rug in shell even if it's made out of some sort of PVC material. The grills in the Premium loop are also covered, so no worries for passing light rain etc as the last time I looked the others at the Full Hook Up did not yet have the cover. The Picnic tables at the Premium sites are large octagon's and again last I looked bigger than the full hook up tables. Honestly, that's all I can think of as a difference.

Everyone here seems to like different loops for different reasons though...

I will admit the premium sites are consistently bigger. And that is correct, everyone has their own preferences. Mine is the 300 or 500 loops. Both are pet loops which matter to me. The 300 is a preferred, the 500 is premium. I just like their proximity to the dog park so I can let me aussie get out and run.

This will be our 2nd trip to the fort (if our MH is repaired in time). The first time we went, I reserved and stayed at a premium site and will be doing the same this time.

The main thing about the premium that I can say is that you get to avoid the sand / dirt. The cement pad is 100% wrap around. Based on my first experience, I felt it was worth the extra 20 bucks.

I don't know for sure location, but our first time was perfect and I can only hope the same this time. pirate:

There used to be a decent description on the WDW official site for the different types but when they went to the current design, those were lost.

Premiums are 18 feet wide paved and about 55 feet deep no sand pad. Wide flare outs at the road for easy backing. All utilities.

Preferred are 12 feet wide paved with a sand pad at the back. All utilities and these loops are up near the beach and Trails End area.

Full are equipped like the Preferred only back in a quiet corner of the Fort. For folks that like peace and quiet, these are their sites.

Tent/Partial are 12 feet wide paved but with a shorter drive and more of the a sand pad. Some sand pads can be quiet large. All utilities EXCEPT a sewer hookup.

Utilities are water, cable tv (also delivers internet), power, and sewer as noted. Naturally Premiums are most expensive, Tents the least.

Hope this helps along with the other resources noted above.

Thank you! You are right, I couldn't find much at all on the official site, thanks for your help :thumbsup2

FWIW, we have been on premium, preferred and full-hook up. We have three slide-outs on our motorhome. We are currently in the 800 loop,. The site is much narrower than any site we've had in the 1700 loop. We just barely fit with the awning and slides out. In act, we prefer the extra space we've had in our full hook up sites. We really don't care if we have the full concrete pad or the fancy picnic table. It sell depends on your preferences. To us, just not worth the extra money, especially when we spend most of our time in the parks.
We just love being at the Fort.
