Is it some sort of theme rest. where they like to have fun with you?
Having a hard time getting a handle on what this is about. Seems
like more than just food. Oh, and how is the food?

Here is the menu, the food is good if you like smoked meats and vegetables.

http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menu_wc.htm

There is some info about the theme below the menu and yes most of the entertainment is between the servers and the guests mostly at the expense of the guests.

WCC is such a fun place. The waiters are obnoxious and funny. It is a great place if you want to have fun. Even my stiff BIL enjoyed it!! :) We knew we were in for a blast when our waiter came over to greet us by hollering hello to the top of his lungs and tossing a handful of straws all over the table. The food is delicious, by the way. I had the skillet and it was very good. :thumbsup2

It was a fun place. We had a terrific waitress. She obviously enjoyed her job. The kids were shocked when she threw the straws on the table, but soon joined in the game. It is a little noisy as the wait people walk across the floor banging their tray stands on the way. One of the kids wanted a kid's menu and she told him to go up to the front and get it himself. He looked at her and asked if she was kidding. She wasn't. He went and got it himself.

We are going there for DD's 11th birthday.

Do you think it is a OK place to celebrate a birthday?

If a huge skillet of smoked meats is too much for you, you can order off the menu. It was too much for me. We enjoyed the antics, and will return.

Wow...I guess we noticed the food more so over the antics of the servers. Our lunch was great there! The chef even came out to our table due to my oldest son not be able to eat any nuts (deathly allergic). He made him a special treat with chocolate because what was listed (I can't recall now) had nuts in it and my son was so dissapointed. It was a great experience and my family can't wait to return. We did have quite the comical waiter as I recall but the food was also extremely good! My hubby and I both had the Smoke House Stack Sandwich- turkey, ham, bacon, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, with shallot mayonnaise, on asiago focaccia bread and it was huge!! A very very good sandwich indeedy. (I could have shared the one) Then we did share a serving of apple/caramel pie....out of this world. I remember oh too well waddling out of the WL....lol

(edited after reading remaining posts: no one was ever obnoxious with us..no one was embarrassed...and it really wasn't loud thru out our lunch and we were there well over an hour. I'm not sure if we ate at the same place as others...? I would not care for the aforementioned. We really enjoyed ourselves...we had a great table by the window...and our meals were great!)

:scratchin:

Anyhow..have a great time there!
good day,
Esmerelda :goodvibes

I loved the atmosphere and the dessert!!

I wasn't too impressed with the dinner itself. I ordered the ribs and they were extremely tough. I love ribs and I couldn't finish even half of them. They *tasted* fine, but the toughness of it made it very difficult to eat. My husband had some chicken and while that was very tender, he said it wasn't very good. The flavors on it didn't blend right. But dessert itself was awesome.

Um ok What is the 2nd glass of water and ketchup all about?

WC is a good place, if you're into the loud and obnoxious. :rockband: If you want a quiet :ssst: dinner or breakfast, then book your time elsewhere. They have games for the kids, they ring the bell for dinner/breakfast, they yell at one another from across the room and try and embarrass you as much as they can. If you ask for a bottle of ketchup you're bound to get about 8 or 9. They take everything you say literal. The food is good so go with an appetite and an open mind. Like I said, if you want quiet, :ssst: then go elsewhere, otherwise, the kids (if your taking some) will love it and hopefully you will too.

For those who "LOVE" WCC there are little requests that are sure to get a massive response from the servers...asking for ketchup will mean that at least 20 bottles of ketchup will arrive on your table...and they stay there. Often asking for a refill on soda will result in a huge bucket of soda being brought to your table. Servers throw straws at you if you need one...there is a lot of audience participation...guests are "asked" to go to the front of the restaurant and sing or dance, kids are doing pony races...stuff like that.

Now many who love this place will say it's a great time. But if you do not like to be continuously interrupted while you are eating, DO NOT GO THERE. Asking to be left alone will only make it worse. More than one poster has had a child brought to tears by a relentless server...for some this sort of thing is "all in a spirit of fun" and anyone who doesn't like it is told to "relax" and not be uptight...so...it's up to you. Just going to "watch" and enjoy the atmosphere and not participate is VERY hit and miss. These people are relentless and do NOT stop. even if kids cry or feel humiliated. I don't get it... but to each his own! :thumbsup2

Gosh- we've been to WCC tons of times from when the boys were small up to last summer so far and we have never seen a child reduced to tears? I feel sorry for any family that experiences a problem with their child's happiness at WDW and I hope that WCC management would be interested in resolving the problem for that child-
we go there to let off steam= lots of noise and fun- just right for my big boys ages- they love it and so do Mom and Dad-
If someone had told me to relax and not be uptight if my child was teased into tears they and I would share a few choice words and we would have gotten up and left WCC if my child was that sensitive???? I don't understand why a parent would not research their dinning choices- I would make sure to avoid any loud roudy places if I had a child that was easily upset.

I was also shocked to read that there were kids reduced to tears, but there is a thread right now about a shy 11 year old...a story about a boy being embarrassed and overwhelmed and bursting into tears...another about a family asked to be seated away from the action and while they were, they were still harrassed to the point of the DH leaving the restaurant. It just seems odd to me. But it seems to happen a lot...

Those families better stay away from 50's prime time at MGM then too- they often get really personnal with telling you to eat all your food and keep your elbows off of the table - yelling at you and making you stand in the corner of the room and so on and so on- we have only experienced non personal "fun" at WCC like the ketchup bottles and throwing of straws and so on... no personal attacks- my experience tells me that by 11 years old a kid sould be able to distinguish fun from meanness- maybe the child had other issues and had some type of problem like not being able to understand social ques :guilty: ?

The ironic thing is that I've been to WCC twice, both times hoping to be a part of the shenanigans, and both times nothing happened. The first time was a quiet lunch and nothing was going on. The second time was a busy dinner, but our server made it clear that she thought the whole place was silly and didn't do anything. That's nice--maybe she should get a job somewhere else.

So if anyone wants a wait person who won't pick on you, ask for the one with long, wavy reddish hair (forgot her name, but I would remember if I see it--"Big" something, I think). She was very friendly, and a good server as far as explaining the dining plan, etc, but just not into the antics.

At WCC, the CM take everything you say very literally!

When you ask for ketchup, your server will yell, in a cattle-calling like way "KEEETCHUUUP" (when we were there, he actually asked a kid to yell it). Then, everyone who has a ketchup bottle on ther table sends one of their kids over to your table with their ketchup bottle. Then it stays on your table until the next ketchup call.

My DD11 asked for a 2nd glass of water. He brought it out in a tiny shot glass with a 3 foot long straw!

When I ordered, I asked for a side order of broccoli & he brought out a huge plateful...which I couldn't nearly finish!! Well, he got the attention of the entire restaurant, introduced me (DD told him my name!!) & said I hadn't finished my broccoli!! Then he spoon fed me.

He also stuck straws thruout my hair & DD's.

We've got an ADR there for next month!

my DS loves it there ask to go again this trip so we are doing lunch. It is way fun for kids. He got into the ketup carting. The food was not that great but doable. Hope its better this time around. hit and miss with this rest.
