What's the deal with the pins?

So you get the lanyard & decorate it with pins you have or will buy ..... where / how do you trade them?

With people ... with stores? Does it cost extra if it is in a store?

Would it be silly of me to buy my daughter a pin lot off Ebay? She has 3....from her Gma & her last trip (4th Bday, 4 yrs ago) - but it seems like there should be a lot more than 3 if she chooses to trade...

I'm so oblivious about some of this stuff.....I don't deserve Disney Freak status!!!

Not very experienced with pin trading, but if your daughter has a pin that she doesn't really TREASURE, then she can walk up to ANY CM at WDW wearing a pin lanyard and pick ANY pin on their lanyard and trade hers for the one she wants on theirs. It doesn't matter where the pin came from or where / how you acquired it. So go ahead and acquire the pins/lanyard from wherever you wish and let her attack the CMs at WDW with trading. She will be tickled with getting a pin she wants from them and have a magical moment in the process by obtaining one she would rather have. Hope this helps!!!

As the previous poster said, she can trade with any CM wearing a lanyard with pins on it (and from what I remember they all have them). I highly recommend getting pins from Ebay prior to leaving because it can get quite expensive.

There is a Disney Collector's section here; lots of pin traders there. DizneyNutz is correct; CMs with lanyards will trade, except for their nametag and any pins on their costume - they will trade what is on their lanyard.

Green lanyards are for kids only. So the nasty grownups can't trade with green lanyard CMs.

If the pin you have has a Disney backstamp then it is tradeable.

It's a great hobby but it can get a little expensive...
