What's the deal with Anna and Elsa?

It is my DD top priority for our trip, and I will be sitting at midnight to reserve FP for it, pretty sure I should be able to get it sometime during our 11 day trip. On the other hand, if not, I refuse to stand in line that long. We will be meeting Merida for the first time this year because I refused to wait in that too. Same with Rapunzel, no way was I standing in that line in the sun for hours, but we saw her the following year no problem.

There are people that stay up late and make sure they are the first ones into Walmart at midnight on Black Friday. I do not even shop on Black Friday period because I consider it madness. To each there own as PPs have said. We all have our interest and things that mean a lot to us. IF people are willing to do it and that is what they want to do then more power to them.

Yeah, I have absolutely no issue if people want to stand in line for hours to meet characters. That's their prerogative. I stand in line to meet them too, but my limit is probably around 20 minutes (that's what I waited for Merida)

We just got back and they changed the hours for A&E to park close on most nights. Near to closing time the waits were like 40-60 minutes but everyone I talked to said it was more like 15-20 minutes. I also heard that Disney inflates the wait times during the day to move people to other part of the park. So there is hope even without a FP+. As for the SDMT, we waited for exactly 48 minutes for a posted standby time of 100 minutes. I did notice that the standby wait times for popular attractions depend on how many people enter the FP+ line. The standby line was always stopped to let FP riders on. If there were 2 or 4, just a short delay. If there were 20 or 30, a much longer wait.

We made slightly last minute Disney reservations a few days ago (July-6-12) When I made my fastpass reservations there was nothing available for Anna and Elsa. I checked again today and there was a 9:10 pm FP so I grabbed it. We do not usually stay late in the parks, prefer to get there at rope drop...kids are G8, B5, and B1.5. I will probably end up staying late with my daughter while m husband takes the boys back. Anyways, my question. How long do you wait with a fastpass in meet and greet lines? I'm assuming there is still somewhat of a line, depending on how many fp they give out. 20 min? I just don't want my daughter to be totally dead tired the next day. Thanks

We had the fastpasses for Anna and Elsa a couple of weeks ago, and both my daughter and my son really wanted to meet them. (They were the only princesses DS wanted to meet.) We generally don't wait more than 20 or 30 minutes for anything. The posted time was 270 minutes when we were there, and we definitely would not have done that.

The longest wait we had on our trip was for the Cinderella and Rapunzel meet and greet. The posted time was 30 minutes. We waited 75. (We didn't care about seeing Cinderella; we'd already seen her at Akershus and her castle, but DD really loves Rapunzel.)

Anyway, we got some great photos of the kids, particularly DD with both Anna and Elsa. (DS wouldn't even go talk to Aurora. DD was thrilled to see her again, and treated her like an old friend.) I was very glad we did the Anna and Elsa meet and greet, and I would definitely do it again either with a FP or if the line was less than 45 minutes-ish. DD was absolutely thrilled, and couldn't stop talking about meeting them. At 3, she still definitely believes in the magic, and meeting her favorites is the most magical thing of all!

Disney characters are "real" to our little ones, so to them meeting Anna and Elsa would be like us ladies meeting Brad Pitt! Personally, I don't understand spending so much $$ on a Disney ticket just to spend the day waiting in a line for hours to meet a character. However I would do it for DD with a FP if she wanted to.

Heck Disney characters are real to my teens and I! When we are in the World. The Characters are real. They feel real. When we meet them not once do we thing hey this is someone working on the clock but we think of them as the characters come to life. That being said I will not wait for hours to meet them nor would I wait for hours to meet any other celebrity.

I had to have the Anna and Elsa "talk" with my DD(7) See we were at WDW last year when Frozen was released and I waited on a very manageable 45 minute line in Norway after breakfast to meet A&E. The craze hadnt really stated yet since the movie was too new. This upcomming trip I tld my DD that unless we have a FP we arent waiting to see A&E and that if we are lucky enough to get one we are only doing it once, and she was ok with it.

The film has resonated with young girls especially for some reason...and even though they have more than one set of sisters in the Fairytale Hall they can only meet so many guests per hour. Because of the sheer numbers of people who want to see them, their lines are generally hours long.

They've now extended the hours for the meet & greet until park close, so they have apparently been able to hire enough friends for both Anna and Elsa to have separate shifts.

Hey last weekend I waited an hour in a line out in the sun so I could get a decent seat to see Mark Hamill, who hasn't done major movies in many years....but he's Luke Skywalker.

When I went to Disney with my family, my niece spent the entire week looking out for Rapunzel. When she finally did see her (walking to another location), she gripped my arm so hard that I thought it was my husband. She then proceeded to scream and run full speed to the actress who (bless her) welcomed her with open arms. The pictures we got were priceless.

Would I wait in line 2 hours to see them? No. Can I understand why a parent would do that for their kid? Yup.

My DD is a HUGE Frozen fan (like most 5 year olds). I will not waste 5 hrs in line but would love to get a FP to take her. Is it that hard to get a FP? Do you have to try at midhight for any hope or can you try at say 5:30am when we get up (on a work day)?

The FPs go quickly. If you don't want a time that is too late for your 5 year old you may want to plan to get one ASAP.

The FP usually doesn't take more than 15 minutes. At least in my experience. (which was actually less than 15, but I've heard that's about the average)

While my lil' guy has yet to see Frozen (We try to avoid movies where we might have to explain death to a 3 year old, wipes out 3/4 of Disney classics) I totally get the phenomenon. For the current generation this is the first "classic" Disney movie they have ever seen. Musical, fairy tale animated instant classic. I'm in my 30s so I was spoiled by having Beauty and the Beast, Lion King and Aladdin all in my wheelhouse. If you give a 12 year old me a chance to meet Beast, I'd give you 5 hours in the heat for the opportunity.

Come on, you know you sing this song when you're alone! It's just too good not to sing to!

The movie is fantastic, it's so good my 2.5 year old son always asks for Frozen when he can choose a show because he loves Olaf so much.

The princesses are new so (probably) all of the little girls in line haven't met them before. Eventually the line will die down a little, but I expect them to have the longest M & G line for a long, long time.


You know, they should set up a stage in front of the castle and have "Let it go" karaoke all day long! Only girls ages 4-10 permitted to sing, though, and they can only sing "Let it go". That line would also be two hours long.

I have heard the first 2 weeks of august are rough, but my ADR's, FP, and all that fun stuff has been easy to change now, (Except BOG) and we have been able to change and change again.

I hope everyone gets what they want!!

I agree. We're going the week after July 4th and book 30 days out with our APs. A and W and SDMT have been open for us every day I've looked? Granted they're often later in the day but I was able to book them.
