What's the bid deal about POP?

Yikes!
I hate reading those bad reviews, because we are going for 6 nights in Feb.

BUT, I am so excited, it won't get me down! Based on the fact that we havent' been to DW in 7 years, I could sleep in a shed in the BACK of POP and be excited.

As long as it has a bed/toilet/shower, I'm cool!

Besides, all that extra money for souveniers!!

I would like to say sorry about hearing about your bad expereience we have only stayed at deluxes so we rarely ever have these experiences we may be trying a mod on our next trip and I hope we dont have any experiences like this

Sorry to hear you did not enjoy your stay. We love POP and will be there soon:banana:      We always had our room cleaned and it was always quiet , even Christmas week. I do think the buses are a little slow and they need more at park closing , but that is the transportations problem. POP is our choice because it is fun and feels great to be there. I have visited all the resort and looked around, most are just not how I think Disney should feel like, we just love the POP feeling. Everyone has there own likes.

We just returned today from POP. We were there for 6 nights. AUgust 6-12. We were very happy with POP.
-
FOOD COURT: We only used the food court a couple of times. Once at 10pm when we returned from the parks- lots of people but plenty of tables and no wait to checkout and once for breakfast- almost empty at 7:45am. Yesterday at 11:30am it was packed- my observation from the gift shop.

BUSES: We had no problems with bus service to the parks. Longest wait was probably 10 minutes- if that. From the parks always was a longer wait (I'm sure becausae we were tired and hot made it worse!!) Most days was at least 15-20 min. We may have waited 25 minutes - but never 30-40.

HOUSEKEEPING: we were very happy with housekeeping. SOme days our room was cleaned by 11am some days it was after 2pm. No problem for us because we were hardly ever there. Our room was clean, plenty of towels and we got 2 towel animals.

ROOM: We were in the 50's building 3. I loved our location. Very close to main building. Very quiet. Could here toilet flush in other rooms- never heard other voices. We were not facing the pool.

CM's: We did not have a lot of interaction with CM's. However, I stopped at front desk to find out about the birthday buttons-(DD turned 18 on trip). I did not request anything- however the CM that helped me with the button must have arranged for balloons, autographed picture of Mickey and Minnie and a birthday phone call for her. Even at 18 she was thrilled!!

We requested a frig for medication- so it was no charge. It was a 3 ft frig. In addition to our meds- we fit about 6 cans of pop, 3 water bottles, ½ gal milk and some grapes. We bought a styrofoam cooler at walmart and kept more water and pop/beer in it. The cooler worked great too.

We would stay at POP again!!

Wow, I can't believe we were there at the same time! We had a very different experience- perhaps due to our expectations? We found the Pop to be suitable for what we used it for- sleeping and showering. The rooms WERE small & yes, we could hear toilets flushing but it wasn't to the point of being distracting or preventing us from sleeping. We did not find the hotel to be overly crowded- we were able to navigate through Classic Hall easily & always found a chair at the pool. The buses were quick and we found all CMs there to be friendly and helpful. We didn't love the food but we chose to eat all but one meal in the parks & at other resorts. This was my SOs first time at Disney- we visited some of the other resorts while we were there but we both agreed that, for the money you spend, Pop is still a very good value. Sorry your family had such a negative experience.

I've heard the toilets flush at the friggin' RADISSON at times... so it's ANY hotel where you're gonna hear toilets and showers... Even at the Hyatt in downtown Atlanta.

I liked Pop. Not a long wait for buses. Even if you had to wait for the second or third bus, spend the time chatting with other people in line... I did with this older (than me, that is) couple about Stitch that took up the time we were waiting in line... and even on the bus too. Pop was the first resort I stayed at, last time being some Holiday Inn somewhere in town (that was about a dozen or so years ago and part of one of those bus company tours-Holiday Tours) and I'd be back there again this year if I'd been able to get a good rate from DU for it. Missed out on Expedia's cheap rate and wasn't quite ready to try Orbitz...

The CMs there were nice and helpful.

Sure the food court was crowded, but it was during the "peak breakfast hour(s)" before folks left to hit the parks but they moved the lines fairly quickly. I did miss out on the frozen Coke (didn't know about it...)

All I can say is, HOPE TO BE BACK THERE AT POP IN 2009!!!! :woohoo:

I really hate to hear about a bad experience like this, I hope it didn't ruin your experience. We going to be in Pop mid-September. I'm pretty excited about the trip because most of the reports & reviews I read here on the DIS are positive.

**I will say that POP is better than the All Stars by FAR!!

Last week, we drove over to the All Stars just to look (we'd never seen them) & it was rather scary over there, IMO.

What was scary about the All Stars? We are checking into the Sports next week.

I'm just wondering how someone who just joined the dis today could have found so many rave reviews about POP by 9:08 am :confused3

I guess you had a busy morning. :surfweb:

Dude, do you think we can't see your join date.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I'm just going to say that it's not what we're used to, & leave it at that.
I know it's great for other people, which is why I stated, "IMO".

Hope you have a great trip!! :)

You know everyone, you can read without registering to post. Give the guy a break. Maybe he is a troll but then again maybe he is just calling it like he saw it.

Alot as stated is timing and alot is expectations. I know many really like Pop or any of the values, but you could not pay me to stay at any of them. They just don't offer what I want in a vacation. As to the comment about this could be any resort during the summer. We stayed two weeks ago at SSR and no it was not the same as Pop.

Maybe the OP made a mistake in staying there but there is nothing wrong with not liking any resort. Everyone does not have to love them.

If he is troll, shame on him. If not shame on the rest of you for not letting someone have an opinion.

I agree with the OP.
I stayed at the POP in June and was really disappointed in our experience. I have stayed at the All Stars many of times so I knew what to expect from a value resort and it didn't even live up to that. Even my fiance didn't like it and he usually likes going cheaply to places - he even contemplated trying to move hotels after checking out the room but since we had friends joining us, we didn't.

Same goes for POR and POFQ. I once had a really bad cleaning experience at POFQ that will never let me stay there again (pools of blood on the wall!) and POR just doesn't appeal to me.

i think pop sucks,,,its over rated big time...too big ..tooo crowded,,,,long walks,,,long elevator waits,,,long lines at food courts..but im staying there in sept,,cause wife hass the $$$$$yes let her pay,,,,,its time away from home,,but allstars is the best,,,sports is great ,,
