Whats the best way to get around?

Staying at Pop for a week soon and we've only ever done parks on day trips while staying at the beach. How do you find out the best and fastest way to get from one place to another?

the best way to learn how to get around is to head over to the transportation board here at the dis and read some threads, ask some questions and basically acquaint yourself w/a layout of the "world" as well as what transport options are available...

from pop you can get to all four major theme parks as well as the water parks and downtown disney via bus... from any of those places, you can grab either another bus or monorail or boat to anyplace else you wish to go... which place you switch will depend on where you want to go (i.e. to go to AKL, take the bus to AK and switch there as opposed to going to MK to switch to an AKL bus)...

you will also receive wdw transport info and map and "schedule" upon checking into pop... it's very helpful, but not as helpful as already understanding disney's transportation concept before you leave!

We didnt really have a concept of the transportation before arriving 2 weeks ago and found it to be very user friendly. We generally used the bus to get to the parks. We used the monoral/boat to go to the deluxe resorts for dinners. We drove in to the MK on our last day as we were leaving right from there - no problems at all. I think that the whole transportation system is very efficient!

Fastest and best - but expensive - cabs.

A little cheaper, usually fairly fast (but not always) - drive

Cheapest, fast depends on a lot of factors - Disney transportation

You can't walk from one place to another (with a few exceptions - Epcot to MGM, or Epcot area resorts to Epcot and MGM. Contemporary Resort to MK. A few others. From POP, nothing is walkable.)

Sometimes, Disney transportation will have several options. One will be the most direct. For instance, standing at the AK wanting to go back to the Boardwalk, we catch the Boardwalk bus. But because the Boardwalk is walking distance from MGM, if we miss the Boardwalk bus, and the MGM bus pulls up, we will take that, then walk (or if the boat is right there, take the boat) back to BW. This usually takes knowing the layout of the parks pretty well though.
