Whats the best trip insurance?

We have always purchased trip insurance through Travelex. They offer several different plans. Several years ago we had to make a claim due to an unexpected illness and they couldn't have been easier to deal with.

Lately I have been getting a policy from Global Alert through the Trip Insurance Store (www.tripinsurancestore.com). When comparing it to Travelex, Travel Guard, CSA, Travel Safe, and Travel insured - it usually gives the most bang for the buck. I used to get Travel Safe, but not any more since they changed the look-back period for pre-existing conditions to 24 months for Illinois residents.

About a week ago several of us found that we couldn't mention that specific travel insurance comparison site any longer :confused3.

But, doing an internet search for "travel insurance comparison sites" will most likely bring it up.
I hadn't seen that yet. Oh, that sucks. I wonder what happened. I refer people to that site ALL THE TIME! :(

:scared1: 24 MONTHS??!?!?@???! That's insane!

I've had to make claims with both Travelex and Travel Guard, and have found both very easy to work with.

Sayhello

We booked a "dummy cruise" while onboard last April and made a small deposit. We have since decided on a cruise to take and applied the previously paid deposit plus an additional payment to meet our deposit requirement.
I looked at the suggested sites for travel insurance, and even called a representative. I have been told that even tho' we booked this cruise and made our additional deposit within the 14-21 day time limit, they will consider the date we made our dummy booking as our original deposit date. Therefore disqualifying us on most plans.
How do you guys deal with this? Any suggestions? Would it be best to purchase the DCL Insurance plan in this situation?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

I'm trying to sort this out too so will watch. I was told that only preexisting Conditions have the restrictions on the timeframe
