What's the best option for 4 adults and 2 kids.

Hi. We are looking for the best option to accommodate 4 adults and 2 kids at a Disney resort.

The kids love Art of Animation but couldn't put us all in one room as the 2 Grandparents want privacy too. So maybe 2 standard adjoining rooms but the boys aren't really Little Mermaid fans.

Alternatively should we look at a different value resort with 2 standard adjoining rooms?

Has anyone done something similar but trying to keep to the lower end of the budget?

2 standard value rooms are going to be the lowest cost to accommodate all of you plus some privacy. If you link the two reservations Disney will do their absolute best at putting you in adjoining rooms or very near to each other. If you actually want connecting rooms, that is a separate request that cannot be guaranteed, although again I do find that Disney does their best to make it work for parties traveling together.

First tip is....always remember the word is CONNECTED...not adjoining rooms.

The Cabins at Ft Wilderness or any value resort where the rooms are CONNECTED by a door. That's 4 beds & 2 bathrooms!

We had 2 connecting rooms at POP and it was perfect. We could close the door for privacy, when needed, and having 2 bathrooms was wonderful. It's not guaranteed but can be requested. Hope it works out for you.

I’d go with 2 rooms at Pop. How much privacy do grandparents want? Maybe connecting rooms aren’t the best idea. Maybe just request rooms near by but not connecting!
Pop is walking distance to AoA so the kids could still walk around AoA and have a meal there.

Not sure what your budget is, but we were 2 Grandparents, 2 Parents, and 2 kids and we stayed in a 2 bedroom at Boardwalk. Any of the DVC 2 bedrooms would be plenty of space/privacy. I like BWV because the studio part we stayed in had the extra fold down bed so my kids each got their own sleep space. Plus we had a full kitchen so we ate breakfast/dinner there each night.

ETA: We rented points through a DISer so we saved a lot off the Disney price of the room... something to think about if the 2 bedroom interests you.

If you're not interested in a kitchen, I would suggest 2 rooms at a Value or Moderate. They say on here to make connecting your only request if that is important to you.

You still have privacy if your rooms are connected because no one has to open their connected door

I loved it when my kids were little, because with a connected door if the grandparents or other group doesn't mind..... you can open the door at night or morning & the other person can leave to get a bite of food/drink or better yet go do laundry without disturbing the sleeping kids.

My daughter slept with grandma in the connected room once and when my mom ( a.k.a. grandma) and I slipped out at 6:30 a.m. to go to MK...my husband was in one room with my boys while my daughter was right there asleep too. All supervised by my awake husband.

With the BWV, you'd have a king bed in the master, queen sleeper sofa in the living room and in the second bedroom (actually a studio) would have one queen bed, one double sleeper sofa and one bunk sized murphy bed. All BWV two bedroom villas are lockoffs (meaning a combination of a studio and one bedroom).

We have never stayed at DVC as not members (yet!), but I will definitely look into the costs of renting a 2 bedroom villa. That sounds lovely. If price doesn't allow it though we will probably go with 2 standard rooms at a value resort. Just will have to convince the children which one as it won't be a Cars Suite which I know they both wanted.

This is what we did. When my DGD was young we woudl get connecting rooms and during the day leave the door open. She loved going back and forth between the two rooms.

I second the cabins at Fort Wilderness - it will fit you all. Also you can look at renting DVC points and get a 2 bedroom. Those are great with plenty of room.
