Hi!

I'm new to juicing and looking to purchase a new juicer. I'm not looking for cheap, but not that expensive. I'm looking for something that will do the job, juice the veggies good and fruits.

Any experience with juicers? What juicers do you have at home? Would you recommend one? Certain model? :confused3

I want to get a Vitamix. It is not a "juicer" because it does not take all the fiber and goodness out of the drink. It blends everything up so good you get the whole fruit/veggie. You can make soups and sorbets, as well at nutbutters with it in addition to smoothies/drinks. Yes it is expensive but you won't be buying another one. It has a 7 year guarantee and most people have had them for 15 - 20 years and still love them. I have been waiting because of the price tag but I am going to pull the trigger soon.

On a smaller scale, there is the Nutribullet, not sure how good that is but it is certainly cheaper.

Did a lot of research and just bought this juicer from Bed Bath and Beyond. With the 20% off coupon, it'll be $300. Does a great job juicing and is quiet and compact. Love it!!

Omega® VRT350W Vertical Masticating HD Juicer

We have the Omega 8006 and have been juicing off and on for over a year. It does an excellent job. I've had no issues with things getting stuck and it's really not that bad to clean either. I think it's normall $359 but I had Macy's rewards $$ and a 20% off so I got a deal. I checked Macys.com and see they are having a sale on some juicers!

Get the Vitamix. You use the whole thing, not just the juice. Much healthier. IE with an orange the white part, just under the skin, is where most of the nutrition is. In a juicer it is thrown out.

What is a Vitamix? In short a blender on steroids. It will handle anything.

My DH got a Breville Juice Fountain Plus juicer for Christmas ($150). I wasn't ready for us to fork out the money on a masticating jusicer yet. We have lots of citrus trees around us, but don't like pulp - so it works great.

We have used pulp in soups and cooked down some apple pulp with cinnamon and sugar over ice cream! DH also takes it to work and used pineapple pulp for a dessert too. (Didn't impress on the pineapple juicing.)

I just got the Blendtec Total Blender. It comparible with the Vitamix. This thing is amazing and we use it everyday at least once if not 2-3 times. We make smoothies, whole juice, sorbets, ice cream, nut butters ect in this thing. I am in love with it and while it is pricey is it well worth it.

I have a Vitamix and Omega Vert. I love them both. If I had to pick one, I'd pick the Vitamix (or the similar Blendtec) hands-down. It does a lot more, and smoothies are a better choice for most people most of the time. However, actual juice does serve a medicinal purpose if you need more vitamins than you can reasonably eat.

The Vert is easy to clean and operates in a way that doesn't heat the juice so the enzymes are still intact. Don't believe people when they tell you that you can hide a bunch of vegetables in there and it will still taste good, though. You're going to want to use a lot of apples and carrots because they're sweet and yummy, especially when you first get started. Lemons make a good addition, too. I can hide a lot of greens in the smoothies I make in my Vitamix, but I have to limit how much of that kind of stuff goes in my juicer. Our favorite juice that has some veggies is about half a lemon (peeled), 5-7 apples, half pound carrots, a small slice of ginger, and about half a small beet. I have 5 children, so you might use smaller proportions.

I have the Omega masticating juicer too and love it. It gets the job done quickly and easily and isn't difficult to clean. I use it every day and it's still going strong a year later.
The only thing that could be better is the input hole is a bit small so you have to cut things up more than some models, but it's no big deal. I would definately choose the same one again.
There are 4 of us who juice at my office and my juicer is the envy of them all. Others complain about theirs. Bed Bath and Beyond is a good place to get it with the 20% off coupon.

I was reading some juicer reviews, yet I can't decide between an Omega (seems to make a healthier juice) and Breville.

@Tinkerdreams I was thinking about getting one Omega VRT350, but it seems it makes juice slow. I don't have too much time on my hands, that's why I am asking. Can you give me some ideas (if you have time).

There are so many juicers out there, it seems complicated to buy one of the, :)

I also have a champion juicer and would recommend it to anyone. I use it for nut butters as well as juice.

When I juice, I do about 4 days worth of juice. It does not take that long to actually do the juicing. The prep time is where it takes the longest - depending on what your juicing.

Examples:

If I want carrot juice (nothing added), I buy the large bags of the baby carrots (4 lbs.) It takes me less than 10 minutes to juice 2 bags of these - no prep time. If I use regular carrots, then I need to cut them up and peel - they can't be too thick. Using the baby carrots is a shortcut for me.

If I want fresh orange juice, it only takes about 3 to 4 minutes to actually juice the oranges - takes me about 20 to peel them. and it's 8 lbs of oranges

Using Kale, spinich, apples, lemons, celery and cucumbers for another juice takes around 5 to 10 minutes to juice and the prep time in washing and peeling takes about 10 minutes.

If you juice every 3 to 4 days, it will be easier than doing it every day. You don't lose the vitamins and nutrients during that time as long as you consume the juice within that timeframe.

It really depends on what your making in how long it will take to juice. Good luck!!
