"The Downward Spiral" from Nine Inch Nails is one of my favorites
Here are, in order, the top selling US albums (stolen shamelessly from Wikipedia)
Eagles - Their Greatest Hits
Michael Jackson - Thriller
Pink Floyd - The Wall
Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin IV
AC/DC - Back in Black
Garth Brooks - Double Live
Billy Joel - Greatist Hist Volume I & II
Shania Twain -Come on Over.
If I'm saying the best from a general standpoint, Sgt Pepper's is a hard one to beat, though of course Thriller is a great album too.
At the moment I'm going between Soundgarden's superunknown, MSI's Frankenstein girls will seem strangely sexy and Sparks' Exotic Creatures of the Deep, one of the most bizarrely humourous albums I've heard in such a long time.
I'd have to say, VAN HALEN. Jamie's Cryin, Aint talkin bout love, Eruption, Ice cream man...all HUGE songs..nobody had ever heard anyone doing those things with a guitar..Eddie is a genius!
wow! This is a Great Question but it's also a little like trying to figure out which one of your kids you love the best...

Black Flag -- Damaged
Decembrists -- Crane Wife
Rolling Stones -- Get yer Ya-Yas Out (Great Album -- awful name)
