hi

we're going to disneyland from12-19 to 12-23 and noticed on the official web site that aladdin seems shut down from 12-21 on - does anyone know what is going to replace it?

thanks
cindy

As far as I know, Aladdin is still going strong, it's just on a shortened schedule but I'm not sure why. Anyway, it's playing everyday of the week except Tuesdays and Wedsnesdays. I guess Tues & Weds are their days off.

Hope this makes you feel better. Aladdin is a great show! :earsgirl:

Yep as far as I know Aladdin isn't going anywhere any time soon. As previously mentioned the show is "dark" on Tuesdays and Wednesday, basically as a cost saving measure.

Also--it's the same performers for every show, so they do deserve a couple days off. I did hear from a CM that the show may eventually make it's way to Broadway (in a longer version, of course).

FYI - it is not the same performers at every show. There are at least 2 actors that play each of the main characters - Aladdin, Jasmine, Genie and Jafar. There are also other performers that can play some of the roles as well. On my last trip to Disneyland, I saw 3 different Genies and all three were fabulous.

The show has been dark on Tuesday/Wednesday to allow for rehersals for new performers, so they can practice onstage. It's harder to rehearse when you have 4 shows a day.

I think every time I've seen it, it's been the same performers--I know I've only seen one Genie. He does tend to change things up quite often, though.

There are at least two actors for each roll. Of course there is a "main set" that does the show most of the time. But each roll also has to have a understudy, just in case the lead is ill or whatever.
