What's playing at the Sci-fi Diner?

Has anyone been to the Sci-fi lately? We went to the Sci-fi Diner in 2005, and while we loved the atmosphere and the food, we were very dissapointed in what was playing on the screen. It was simply a bunch of nothing. We thought it would be a movie or at least short cartoons, but it was neither. I can't even explain what it was. It was like a few commercials that made no sense playing on a 10 minute loop. It really took away from the experience. We would like to go again, but we were wondering if anyone who has been there recently can tell me if the "movies" change and maybe we just got a bad night. Thanks!

I doubt they have changed since you were there but even if they have you will still probably be disappointed if you were disappointed the first time. I personally love the trailers for the old B movies and the cartoon clips are good too. My only suggestion would be to lengthen the loop so that you don't get the same things over and over.

We were there at the beginning of this month. It is the same clips that it has always been.

SciFi is a theme........it is a step back in time to when everyone went to the drive-in....and to the "type" of movies that were shown at that time. The clips, the cars......they all set a "mood" to take you back (mentally) to that era. If you did not grow up in that era, then maybe you don't "get" the idea behind SciFi.

The various clips keep your interest as opposed to one long continuous actual film from that era (it would be difficult to choose only one film and how to you appeal to everyone?) so there are clips of scary movies, clips of western, etc.

I was wondering the same thing as the OP! While I thought the food was pretty good and the atmosphere was nice, I thought the "movie" was a little boring and did not capture my attention in the slightest. We are probably going to skip this on our next trip, but if anyone knows if it's changed up any then we might reconsider.

I agree that it's really still the same thing, so if you didn't like it before, you probably still won't care for it. It's about an hour loop, because we usually notice it starting over about the end of our meal there. We love it!

You couldn't have a film playing-people would be walking in at all different points of the film, or refusing to leave until they watched to the end. At least with the clips, there will be something to entertain most people for at least part of the time-as a Brit who has never experienced a drive-in (In this country they would be wash-outs:lmao: )I loved the atmosphere and the corny clips-I just wish they had had the hotdog jumping like on "Grease":rotfl:

The old monster movie trailors are hilarious!
(especially the giant woman)
Also like the old drive in concession ads.

Our family loved this place.

Thanks everyone. Some of you said that they showed movie trailers. I don't recall seeing that. It seems like what we saw didn't even have anything to do with science fiction. It certainly was not on an hour loop either. We watched the same thing at least 4 times while we were there. I would be happy with movie trailers or short cartoons :) anything but what was playing while we were there.

really.. there were a bunch of tom & jerry cartoons (space related) when I last ate there.

but let's face it, i'm in love with the concession ads, the 'news from the future' bits and the b movie trailers.

if you want cartoons while you eat, there's always the ground round (sorry.. does that even still exist anymore?)

I think it's meant to be more for like "background" noise (viewing). It's there but people are maybe more into their food/drinks or talking to really pay attention? (I was just glad to get into the a/c there and out of the - what felt to be 200 degree whether and recovering from my pounding headache during a StarTours mass crowds weekend to care too much what they were showing)...food was so-so. I still want to go back and try something new next time and hopefully when I don't feel lousy.
