Perfect boyfriends are perfect~ :~)

I wonder when Disney stops decorating for Halloween and starts decorating for Christmas. ~

Common use

Commonly in math and other everyday use the tilde can be understood to mean "approximately"; or to imply an estimation. For example, one would type "I had ~30 points." This would mean "I had around 30 points."

I feel like at first everyone was using the ~ thing mockingly and now they do it all the time.

And this just confuses me.

tilde power.

What is the correct usage of a tilde anyway?

A tilde (from what I remember from school) is used in the "about" form. Like saying "He ate about four apples" but replacing "about" with "~" so you would say "He ate ~4 apples" or something like that. You don't know exactly how many apples he ate, so you're saying about. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's how my English teacher told us to use it.

The only time I've seen it away from the internet was in class when my teacher wrote them on the board when he was listing things xD

When somebody asked him he said hypens and bullets were too mainstream bahahahahaha
