I still don't get what it means to be a "hipster"

sometimes I see them as being all dark and dreary and listening to bands I've never heard of and the sometimes they're the ones with the beautiful bright outfits and light long blonde hair and really short shorts. I just don't get how you get to be classified as being a hipster...

I think it's people who aim to do everything differently from the norm, from liking bands nobody's heard of, to dressing to stand out, and so on.

The girls from Victorious are really talented.
It's my favourite show on Nickelodeon.

I love Elizabeth and Ariana's voices! They're amazing. Though that might just be the Broadway nerd in me, since they were on Broadway before Victorious. Jennette from iCarly's talented, too, but liking her depends on if you like country. Nathan had nice vocals in iParty with Victorious as well. And Avan Jogia...need I say more?

Interesting.
Because my best friend wants to be a hipster.
She's trying to leave our preppy bubble and be different.
It's weird because apparently now it's cool to be awkward.
I don't think so... why would you WANT to be awkward?
It's cool to dye the tips of your hair pink and blue.
Alright.
And it's cool to wear shorts that were in style in the early 90s. You know, the high waisted ones with the huge pockets (well, they were never as short as they are now.)
I'm just amused by how odd this all is to me
