Okay. So I’m here to tell you that Jacoby Ellsbury is the sweetest, kindest, nicest, most precious ballplayer I’ve ever met.
I am not a Jacoby fangirl. But I will forever think he’s amazing.
So before the game, when he first ran out of the dugout, everyone cheers and hollers for him, and he was the only one to actually wave to everyone and say “thank you” and smile and truly take a few seconds to thank the crowd - and it wasn’t pompous, it was geniune appreciation. Then he came back, and even though he was playing in the game, and looked at us all by the dugout and smiled and said “can I sign some autographs?” OH STOP IT YOU, YOU ARE TOO PRECIOUS FOR THIS WORLD.
Unforch, one of the coaches (I think it was Hale but I’m not sure) stopped him and had him go into the clubhouse. Before he left though, he apologized to the fans for not being able to stay and said something along the lines of “I’ll try and come back after the game”. But he couldn’t ‘cause they all had to catch the plane to Houston apparently.
Moral of the story: Jacoby Ellsbury is a genuinely nice guy. It is no act. He may seem serious but he is so damn sweet. So to any haters out there.. shut the ---- up.
