How is it decorated? Do they do anything special for the holidays? Does it make you feel like it's Christmas?

Curious to know too. We will be there for the first time for Christmas. We are planning on checking many of the resort's decorations. Can't wait.

here's a fun thread with lots of pics:

We are planning on staying at OKW at the end of our holiday trip, and we were also planning on donating a Christmas tree for the DVC exchange. Since the tree was at SSR last year, I thought we would need to change the decorations a little to go better at OKW. Now I have some inspiration and a color scheme! Thank you! :thumbsup2

Typically the shared resorts have more/better decorations because the regular resorts spend more on decorations.

There are a few decorations, but nothing dramatic like Wilderness Lodge's 40 ft Christmas tree, or the Grand Floridian's gingerbread house. I think BWV has a carousel with chocolate horses, etc.... (could be wrong on that one).

It's a very nice resort during the holidays, but it doesn't WOW you with an overwhelming Christmas feeling the way a few other resorts do.

The pictures are very pretty :) - I thought from all the report and pictures it might not be as elaborate as the others. That's okay though. We also miss OKW a lot - my first home resort and we have not stayed here in years so I am really looking forward to it.

We plan on resort hopping to check out all the decorations. It will be all about the decorations even in the parks and not so much about rides on this trip. Who knows when we will visit again during Christmas.

Thank you.

We stayed at OKW in Dec. in 2008. It was beautiful. There was a beautiful display of poinsettias in front of the flagpoles by the marina. That place is awesome. :cloud9:

I was there last Dec and thought the decorations were very nicely done. Not over the top just fit in perfectly. I got the feeling it was Christmas.

Hi Hon
Just sharing a few of our Christmas at OKW ideas from a few years ago.

We took a rather cute Canadian polar bear with us ( inflatable, lighted) he guarded our balcony.
We brought a small round table cloth(Christmas print) for our dining table. We tied our Christmas stockings on the door handles.
We bought a small Christmas tree from DTD and it added a lovely glow to the room at night,,,I believe it's fiber optic. We added a few window clings (Christmas)to our windows and added a few to the bathroom door and bathroom mirror.
I brought a few mickey gingerbread head ornaments we had made from home--the room smelled great.
We took time to rent some family Christmas DVDs from Community hall.
We booked Christmas breakfast at Olivia's to guarantee a reservation Christmas morning. Guess who turned up at OKW Christmas Day? Yep Santa Mickey and Santa Goofy!Just priceless!
Have a Joyous Wonderful Christmas and have fun planning!

Hugs Mel:santa::santa:
