am thinking of this yrs trips (as you do :goodvibes :rotfl: )
and aswell as aug ,i was thinking of going in oct half term (mon - fri or a wkend) for a little cheapy break

we have been in oct before ( a wkend ) and cant remember what crowd levels were like

am hoping to get the accom with the sun holiday @ les chene gris ,if they have the dates i want

What dates are you looking at? We went Mon-Fri October half-term in 2007 and it seemed very quiet to us as we are used to going in August! However only half the UK schools were on holiday that week, and neither were any French schools, and it wasn't the week including Halloween night itself, the 31st. That week will be much, much busier.

If it is the dates that has Halloween in it, virtually every school in Europe is off and the parks are worse than Summer. I will never go again during that time unless I stayed Castle Club or Empire State Club.

it would either be mon 26th - fri 30th oct ( half term week)
or the fri 23rd - mon 26th oct ( and take the boys out of school for the fri ! naughty)

we have been in aug and a wkend in dec ! :scared1: :rotfl: so used to the crowds :)

We went during August, during Oct half term and the weekend before Christmas - all in the last 6 months. The Christmas weekend was BY FAR the busiest. I would say that August was a bit busier than Halloween week, but it didn't seem so bad as there was that extra hour in the evening (open until 11 pm) to get rides done. If you can cope with August, you could have coped with Halloween week just gone.

I believe that Halloween night itself is something else though.

I've bumped up Hildasmuriel and Guilia's Halloween week 2008 trip reports for you on the trip report board :)

aww thank you
what a star :lovestruc

off for a read

ooooh i do love planning a trip :rotfl:

xx

Rachie we stayed at Le Chenne Gris for our October 2008 trip. Pictures of the accomodation are in my trip report from then.

Hi Rachie

We went to DLRP during October half term a few years ago. We stayed for five days and came home the day before Halloween. The Parks got busier the nearer we got to Halloween but it was never uncomfortably so - we managed to do all we had to do with no problem - and had no trouble getting nice meals in restaurants etc. It was also great to see all the amazing Halloween decorations.

I've also been in summer and had a great time but there's something really nice about wrapping up warm and heading out for a day in DLRP!

Just to let you know how much we enjoyed going in October - we're booked to go back there this October from the 25th - 29th this year! We can't wait!

Hope to see you there!!:)

See you there Rach, we're booked into Adagio during that week, going home on 30th. I'm sure it will be very busy but not worse than our Xmas trip and we coped with that. When we were there in October this year we spent our whole time exclaiming about how much DS in particular would love the Halloween decorations so we had to do it, and I can only go in school hols now. (Although like you wouldn't mind taking out for one day!)

great reading this & the october trips, as was going to ask a similar question to this!!!!
if we went, it wud be the sunday 25th to 28th (weds) how likely is it that those days wud be really busy??

so far we have only been in june (begining) and december and i didnt think either were that busy - so not sure what its like when its really busy!!!! we do want to see the halloween decorations, just unsure of crowds etc.... we wud take ds1 out of school, but seeing as we did it in december, not sure if we could do it in october??? (anyone know how the school policy on holidays works?? is it based on each school year - sept-sept, or based on so many terms before??)

then all ill need is to find the money to pay for it!! but thats another question....:lmao:

thanks all :)

the halloween decs etc look FAB! loved reading the trippies :goodvibes

cap'n i read your report last night
and see you werent that happy with the site ? :(

someone on another forum said it was a lovely accom, really warm and a nice enough site

i am not bothered really as would only cost £62 for 4 nights for the 4 of us
and is only a place to sleep, shower and get dressed :rotfl:

just hope i can get the mon - fri

i should imagine it runs from sept - july

eg at my sons school you can have up to 10 days ,from start sept ( start of term) - end July ( end of term)

just ask what their policy is :)

ooo rach - that wud be good if it was!!! i mean, we wud only do a couple of days (ok, maybe 3 lol) and we cud do it just before half term so he wudnt miss much (he will only be in yr 1)

thanks hunny - and go for it with the sun hols if u can - as u say, as long as the bed is clean, its warm, and dry - that will do!!!

i wouldnt worry if he is only in yr 1 :)

we only don't do it now as my eldest is in yr 8

but until he went to secondary school we always used to take maybe 4 or 5 days a yr out of school

so long as its not around any exams,or start of term etc i dont think its a huge no no ,and they wont miss that much / can easily catch up at that age :)

Hi Rachie B,
Sorry for the late response, but I figured we had something to add.

We've been to Disney for the last 3 years in October half term - however my DDs school is strange and has a 2 week half term in October (and a shorter summer holiday) and we've always opted for the cheaper week arriving 15th Oct 07, 20th Oct 08 (can't remember 06).

The parks have never been crowded, but of course the next week could be entirely different. You'd have a lot more familes from the UK, but maybe no more from the rest of Europe unless we've just struck lucky.

The Halloween decorations are great, although they don't change much year to year - in fact they've got less varied over the 3 years, removing first the giant pumpkin and last year all the pink witches. However, still great decorations for all the family to have some fun with.

Thank you :)

i think we will go for it,and if it is too crowded ( for us) we just wont go at that time again

at least it wont be as cold as xmas so that will help!

Best to ask at school about holiday policies. As I have mentioned before, we have a borough wide policy, Council ordained, that no more than ten days term time leave may be allowed during the whole time a child is at primary school.

That week is not too bad. It's just Nov. 1st is a bank holiday in most of Europe, and many schools in France, Spain, Portugal, and Germany as well as the UK have that week off. So Halloween week is rammed. It was the 1st time I ever saw a queue for the Tree House, though I did see that a few weekends this year.

Personally we avoid that week, but try to make it earlier in the month or go another time. Then again I will not do Christmas week either. I find summer is not too bad because of long hours and it's not too cold. But if half term week was the only option, we might still try it. Halloween season is my fav season Disney does anywhere, and DLP has the best Halloween events of all.
