What's next ? For disney animated princess movies ?

Thinking about princess stories that haven't been tackled yet--what about the Swan Princess? There's been a few non-Disney movies about this tale, but I think Disney could certainly adapt it and improve upon it. That tale has all the elements needed for a good princess movie: a princess, animal friends, a villain, a hero, a love story, magic spells, action-packed adventures, comedic moments....

And, what about some of the princesses that have been successful in the Barbie movie franchise--Thumbelina? The Twelve Dancing Princesses? The Princess and the Pauper--although they have already told that tale from a Mickey point-of-view.

IMO I think Disney should lay low on the princess movies for the time being. We've already seen Princess and the Frog and Tangled in the past few years. I think we need something more aimed towards the male demographic. Maybe more in terms of Lion King or Jungle Book.

I'd like to see Disney's The Monkey King (from the Chinese mythology). That would allow for sequels too and increased foreign revenue. And it would much appeal to boys.

I think there are several options for new animation with a possible princess. My favorite would be Rumplestiltskin, a story with a princess for the girls, and a male character that could lure boys attention. I also think that making Red Riding Hood would work, as well as a story on Joan of Arc.

I heard about Moana, which looks like another potential Disney princess, and a WOC no less. Her Disney princess status will depend in part on how popular she is, though, and of course it will be a few years before that movie comes out at all.

Now that they bought out Star Wars...

Princess Leia! :cutie:

Just kidding.

Kinda.

:ewok: :chewy: :yoda: :darth:

I'm a big fan of leaving the Cars and Planes sequels in the dust (see what I did there? :lmao: )
But I digress... It looks as though in 2015 Pixar will be back to doing what they do best: creating original stories that make an audience laugh, cry, and win them all sorts of awards. Inside Out with Amy Poehler, Lewis Black, and Mindy Kaling? The Good Dinosaur with John Lithgow and NPH? Sign me up!

Don't know princess wise, but there's plenty of mythology world wide that they could pull from.

That said I do believe Good Dinosaur is next on huge list.
