What's Next? Disney getting stingy with Pixie Dust!

Grrrrrrrr, I'm getting so frustrated! Anyone else see on the Disboard Update menu:

The Coral Reef restaurant at Epcot will not be doing diver signs and personalized menus in 2009

I was so looking forward to suprising my future groom with this little bit of Pixie Dust on our Honeymoon!

Okay, I know that the economy sucks, and cutbacks abound, but please allow me this little rant. First of all, they STILL haven't posted May hours, which I desparatley need (even if I can't make dining reservations yet, which is another story!). Then, they cancelled the Pirate and Princess Party that we were going to enjoy for the first time. Now this!

It makes me sad!

Is there going to be any Pixie Dust left in 2009? At this point, I'm afraid when they finely post May hours, that there's not going to be any EMH.

Thanks Lynn. I know, but I'm just getting so frustrated with the cutbacks. Do I understand the reasons? Yeah. But geeze Louise...why can't they at least post the May hours? I wasn't kidding when I said I was worried they'd stop the EMH. I can really see those going next, because it would cut down on electricity/employees/etc.

When I thought of the economy affecting my wedding, I thought about my own finances, not Disney's. The Coral Reef is probably my favorite restaurant at Epcot (Rose & Crown is a close second). I was really looking forward to this bit of pixie dust. BAH!!

PS - I want the May hours as well!!

Yes, I read earlier this year that they were thinking of quitting the divers in 2009, and then I saw it posted.

I'm sorry you won't get to do it for your DH2B. We went in August for my DH2B's 45th b'day and I got him the divers and menu.

I don't know why they are cutting back when they are raising prices.

I need May hours too! I still can't book my reception lunch.

I hear you. I want to book my ADRs now and see the May hours lol. I'm hoping that it won't be as busy though when we go. It never is in May so if not a lot of people are going it will be even better.

Hopefully they will be up soon. They were up for a little like 2 months ago then they took them down.

I would bet they are cutting back on the pixie dust on stuff like the Diver's because they want you to pay for the "celebrations" now for 2009. I'm bummed too! Dh and the kids would have loved the diver. I wonder if it will be come a paid option? I might consider paying for it, if it were offered.

I know how you feel, I was thinking the same too. It seems to be one thing after another that they cutting back and dropping... there even thinking of cutting down Fantasmic and Illuminations. I know its got to do with the economy etc but although they are cutting all these things they don't seem to be cutting the prices at all.

They have cut Fantasmic back to 2 shows a week in January. Don't know about the following months, because I'm not going back until Oct/Nov 09.

Its so annoying because now we have to plan everything around those days if we want to see it. And obviously on those days MGM is going to be heaving. We saw Fantasmic in January, the park itself was really quiet but the show was still full over 15 minutes before it started. The cutbacks are obviously not because there are not enough people, just Disney being stingy.

Have you seen the prices for these "celebrations? OMG what a joke!!! Good luck finding anything in the Romance/Anniversary category under $100! Average price is $250+

We saw it last January too, I think Sunday of MLK weekend, it was pretty crowded too considering they had late EMH at MK that night.

I know what you mean, I went onto disneyflorist.com to look at the package for them to decorate your room, and it was over $250. I don't mind paying some extra for a few decorations, but you'd think they would come up with different price packages.


I did notice on the offering of the "Sweetheart Dinner for Two", that one of the things is a menu to keep. I wonder if this will be along the same lines of the personalized ones you got at Coral Reef?

It is with mixed feelings that I must announce that I am closing down Peggy's Sweets and More. I have accepted a position as a Dream-maker with the Disney Florist. To maintain this business would be considered by Disney a conflict of interest. Therefore, from this point forward, I will not be accepting any new orders

I don't think that's true. I am talked to a few CM's that I know and I hear that the numbers are down. I know it seems when you go to Disney they are really busy, but they are being hurt by the economy just like everyone else.

Kendra - they're also busy now because most people who are there now have already paid for their trips. Most people book in advance so these trips have already been budgeted. It's going to start showing this coming year with people canceling their vacations due to the economy. You just wait...
