After being gone and out of country for over three years, living in Africa, Laos, working around the world and my princess now turning 10, where do I begin to catch up on what is new with DVC?

Trying to read through all the DVC threads but wow have things changed

Hmmmm - well, what was the current program the last you checked? I forget exactly when things started.

And welcome back!

We now have:

Online booking
Book up to 7 days from check-in.
2 waitlists per membership
Magic bands (that could be and is debated on how Magical they are!)
No more paper FP's
New resort at VGF
Announced resort at Poly
Direct prices are $155/pt! And going to $165/pt in June!!!

Not really new anymore, but if your thinking of buying DVC points on the resale market, those points now have restrictions on use effective March 21, 2011. Resale points are no longer able to be used for the Concierge Collection, Adventurer Collection or Disney Collection.

There has been some management and program changes recently.

Disney fired the president of DVD/DVC and a couple of executives due to some bookkeeping irregularities. The new VP for DVD/DVC promised full transparency at her first DVC association meeting, she was transferred out of the country after 18 months.

The new VP doesn't say much, he increased the time for resale buyers to get their account info and ability to book their first reservation, total time from contract offer to booking can take 75 days. He made some MS changes that has increased the phone hold time and added a chat feature with limited abilities. He just added "Membership Magic", special for pay events like bowling or fishing for members only. I was told that the program administration is funded with member dues just like the member mingles, welcome home Wednesdays, parities, and the association meeting.

Wow Poly at $155 a point That is one resort I would have bought into.

I need to learn more about the Magic Bands and I am considering getting the PAP with the discount. I am going to AKL in July for 5 days so will have to see where all the changes are occurring.

The PAP promotion ends on 4/30. Some (including me) have experienced trouble purchasing the ticket through the website over the past week. You may want to try the website to see if it works. If not, you will want call MS before 7:30 PM on 4/30.
