What's May like?

Hi all !

After our trip in Nov, my DH and I decided in the new year we would start to try for baby no 2 ;)

But now we both want to get in another trip before we try, as our DS Joshua had the best time:cloud9:
Also we would not go back until the baby was at least 12 months old, which means at least 2 years before we go back again:sad1:
My friends have said to me "Well you can still go if you are pregnant" but there is no way I would go as I wouldn't be able to go on some of the rides with Josh and even though I had a brilliant pregnancy the first time round, you just don't know how it will be the next time with sickness and the heat etc.
So, we have been looking today and have decided on 29th April till 14th May and have found some very cheap flights with Virgin at £316 each!!
These prices are just too good to give up!
After going for 10 years always in Nov, we want to know what it's like in May.
Weather, are the parks busy etc.
We want to book really in the next couple of days.

Hi Karina,
We went that exact two weeks this year and it was lovely, lovely, lovely!
The easter rush is over, the weather is settled and is not too hot. I think we had two sharp thunderstorms in 16 days!
We had one chilly day when we had planned a water park so we felt it a bit at TL and consequently it wasn't very busy!
We didn't queue very long for anything at all in any of the parks.
We made fairly early (but not too early) starts to the parks, booked TS lunches to get out of the midday sun to rest and went out to eat nearer where we stayed or ate CS on the way out!
My two girls were 4 and 19months at the time and had a ball.
Like your post says it's quite a reasonably priced time of year too.
We went again in early October and I would say the crowds were roughly the same and so was the temp - mid to late 20's. The daylight hours there are about the same as ours at that time too which was only thing we prefered over October as we felt it got dark very quickly in October.
This year was the second time we went those particular two weeks as we'd loved it soo much before.
I would say go for it!
Good luck.
Joanne.

I agree with PoppyAnna. The humidity doesn't usually arrive until the second half of May so the weather in late April and early May is generally warm but not humid. Most U.S. schools don't finish their school year until late May or early June so the crowds of families are not here yet either. Easter is in March this coming year so the Easter/Spring Break crowds will be gone too. So your dates appear to be an excellent time to visit.

Early May is very nice.

The crowds still are ok at that point. Late May is another story - we found it very crowded in late May leading into Memorial Day weekend and the week before and after. But early May is very nice.

For a good combination of nice weather and manageable crowds it's one of the best times to go.
The temperatures are just starting to rise to the mid 80s but you don't get the high humidity of the hot summer months and you have missed the Easter rush.
