Whats in your...stocking??? Need new and different ideas for Christmas.

I never could buy lottery tickets for someone else. If they won, I'd feel greatly compelled to take it back. :rotfl2:

Lol Kimberly I feel the same way.. or we would at least have to split it :)

I put a small, specialty type ornament in each stocking every year. This year I've already bought a glass crab for my son. I found ballerinas when my DD was still dancing, and mermaids when she was collecting them. DS has gotten turtles, frogs, and trains in the past. DH gets sports or dragon ornaments, or anything else that I think might amuse him.

They go on the tree, but will "go" with the children when they have their first home.

::yes:: We started this when our DS was 2,he's 20 now,and has a very nice collection.I know DS would be disappointed if we ever stopped this tradition. Not likely though,as I plan on doing the same for our future grandchildren.

Last year I went through this magazine that had a funny T-shirts. There are no kids in my family only adults so I picked out a T-shirt that went with each of their personalities. For example there are 3 of us grown kids, my older sister and my brother....so I got a T-shirt for my brother that said "Mom likes me Best" b/c we are always saying that to him in a funny way.

I brought stockings and glittered their names on them. I had them each open their stocking one at a time and read their shirts out loud. They loved them and we laughed so hard at some of the sayings.

Now I have to think of something else funny to do this year.

We get pretty good stockings from MIL, usually:

1-lb bag of our fave candy (M&M's for me, lol)
deodorant
toothbrush
those warm socks, can't remember what they're called exactly
B&B works shower gel
chapstick
cd
some sort of Avon jewelry, usually necklace
contact solutions for those who wear contacts
Silly string---2 cans in each stocking, to be used when we see fit

We're a bunch of 20-something (ok, DH already turned 30, lol) big kids, and we have a blast!

My kids are older but they still want to get their stocking down on Christmas Day. I usually put in roasted peanuts(no allergies, takes up a lot of space :goodvibes ), candy, a whole bunch of AA batteries, some tangerines, and a few "good things" like beauty supplies for DD12 or Hot Topic gift card for DS19. DS10 is autistic and doesn't care--we save a lot of money on him :rotfl: We load him up with C batteries and fruit cocktail.

Oh dear. I need to get some stuff soon. Reading all of these neat ideas makes me realize I really can't wait until the last second.

I usually put smaller, inexpensive, things they wouldn't necessarily buy for themselves or day to day items they would appreciate having but aren't fancy enough for a wrapped gift. Toothbrush, floss, paste. small packs of tissues. bar of soap. chap stick. batteries. sun block. comb. hand washing packets. little first aid or sewing kits, little GC's- like for Wendy's. I also put an envelope in with a substantial amount of cash, which is their main gift. They also have several packages to unwrap for the fun of it containing shirts, sweaters, books, etc.

The mother of a friend of mine did the ornament a year thing, what a wonderful idea and I wish I had done it with my children. When my friend moved into her own place the ornaments came with her for her first tree.

In my stocking you can usually find some handcuffs, paddles, whips, whip cream, ....oops perhaps I've told too much! :goodvibes

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Hilarious!!

For my kids I usually put toothbrushes, favorite candies, Mcdonalds gc, Disney dollars in everyones.. but in my sons he gets a baseball perhaps, baseball cards, cd, comb, watch and stuff like that.. In my older dd I put small bubble bath, makeup, hairthings, hairbrush, small bottle of perfume, cd.. in my youngest dd I put bubble bath, hairbrush, gum, rubber ball.. things of that nature..

I pick things up throughout the year when I see things they might like and save them for Christmas..

When I give someone else a scratch off I usually write a small disclaimer on a piece of paper that lets them know if they win it wouldnt hurt my feelings if they shared the wealth with me.. :rotfl: :rotfl:

Last year I put "book lights" in each of my ds stockings and they were a big hit!!! Also I do baseball cards and whatever other gadgety stuff is new in the stores. This year I am having a real problem, they are 8 and 13 and I just don't know what to get them for Christmas. They are not into the coloring and art stuff at all anymore. I will probably get my DS13 a small bottle of cologne. He is actually asking me for an i-pod and a camcorder :rotfl2: !!!!! Too funny!!!!
