What's in a studio kitchenette?

Hi all. I'm planning my first trip "home" next month and we'll be staying at a studio at SSR.

Due to some health issues, I'm realizing I'm going to have to do some more food prep than I thought (or would normally even consider doing on vacations). It shouldn't be a big deal for me, but the thread on removal of real glasses, etc from the studios made me realize that I have no clue what's in the kitchenette.

Other than a microwave, coffee maker, sink and refrigerator, what is in the kitchenette? Are there bowls that can be microwaved? A real knife or only plastic?

While I'm putting my questions out there...what size coffee filter do I need to buy or bring?

Thanks, Amy

Coffe filters are the 12 cup size for a mister coffee type pot, There are only plastic utensils and when we were there the first week in March there were only paper and styrofoam products. There is a can opener, wine opener, and toaster in addition to the things you mentioned. I would pack or plan to buy some cheap plastic storage bowls that you can microwave in and then throw out at the end of your stay if you don't want to transport them home. I have never tried microwaving in the paper bowls but maybe someone else has and can report on that. You might want to include some real utensils in your luggage also.

I microwave in the paper bowls, even here at home, with no problems. Cover items that may splatter with a paper towel.

Do not microwave in syrofoam, they can melt or leach a chemical taste into your food.

Is an ice bucket still an item in the studio? I also recall glasses on the ledge of the (bathroom) sink, are they now plastic? If someone were to use the paper bowls, glasses, etc., daily, are they replaced or is it sol? What about liquid soap to clean out any “refillable mugs”?

If you look on DVCnews.com there is information about the removal of the cups and mugs. It looks like at SSR they still have styrofoam, but if you want glasses and mugs you can request them. And that some of the resorts have gotten there cups and mugs back.

curious about this too since we're planning a studio stay at SSR (hopefully this year).

There still is a small fridge - isn't there? And is there a microwave? I can't remember.

Thanks!

There's a corkscrew and canopenner. Plastic forks/spoons/knife. I always pack a small paring knife in my checked bag. It's not fun trying to cut fruit, cheese, and pretty much everything else with a plastic knife. I do keep it in the original container so TSA doesn't freak out when they scan my bag, or have to check it.
