What's happening with The Haunted Mansion?

It was open yesterday. If they close it like the rumors are talking it will be closer to Halloween time.

It has to be open for Halloween this year because they have a whole series of special ticketed events planned around it. Just this afternoon tickets went on sale for the Happy Haunts Ball in late October.

They might have to close the HM for the first event of the 999 Happy Haunts Event 2003, because I think those 25 lucky people will have dinner in the mansion on Oct. 27. As far as I know, it is not scheduled for rehab.

It can't be closing for rehab. It was closed last year when we went in September for a rehab. They were supposed to be doing a full rehab then. I was so disappointed to miss out on this piece of Disney magic. I hope they won't close it until late October this year (to prepare for the special events).

I did notice minor changes this year.... I didnt know it had been down for rehab last september
Where the old guy is with his quivering pooch, holding his lantern, they have changed the lighting and the pooch now looks more real!! We love this ride. I doubt they will close it for long during the fall season.

I went last September (14 - 18) and the CMs told me it was closed because they were repairing the roof. As far as I knew, it was only shut down during my short stay (figures) because of this reason...not a full rehab.

OK, all I have to say is the Haunted Mansion better be open when we visit in October .

This is our all-time favorite attraction and it was closed when we visited WDW last September (14-21). They were replacing the lift mechanisms on the stretch rooms. We found out about the rehab 2 weeks before we left for vacation ... we were so upset!

We are going October 18-25 this year ... attending MNSSHP on Oct 19 ... I can't image Disney would have the HM closed during the Halloween parties!

I was there Sept. 8 - 13. I remember that it closed a few weeks to a month before we left - and was scheduled to open a few weeks after we back. From what I remember reading on this board or some other Disney website, they were adding a new sound system, and working on changing the drive system of the Doombuggys. They were also doing some other maintainence tasks. So...... it was supposed to be a fairly extensive rehab. That's why I can't imagine them closing it again so soon.

The hm will be closed shaortly after labor day and reopen in oct.BUTTTTTTTTTTT. it will feature THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS until jan, then it will switch back to the normal hm we all love.....this is according to sam and ryans hm page

Thanks Cwipperman. Apparently the CM who spoke with me lied, lied, lied. Said it was a minor 4-day thing. Now of course I hear that it will be closed again THIS September. That will p*ss me off for sure.

Disneyland!!!!!


The haunted mansion website by sam & ryan lists the Disneyland HM as the one shutting after Labor Day until early Oct. Not Disney World. Whewww!!! This will be my youngest DS first trip and I wouldn't want him to miss HM.

I was hoping it was Disneyland and not Walt Disney World.

I posted a question on doombuggies.com's message board and their response was that the WDW HM was NOT scheduled for any closings. They said the DL HM closes so it can be changed over to the annual Nightmare Before Christmas theme.

Man, gave me a heartattack!

Whew is right!!!!

That gave me a mild heart attack. This will be my husband's first trip and I thought that the Haunted Mansion was one of the best things to show him. I have to say I was thoroughly bummed out when I thought that couldn't happen.
