What's great at Raglan Road?

we really enjoyed our meal there last year, enough to return again.
DH and DD both ordered the Dalkey Duo as their entree rather than appetiser, I had the pie in the sky, which was heavenly, and then without a doubt the Gers bread and butter pudding.

a banger is just an Irish Sausage... Kinda like Keilbasa is Polish Sausage, Banger is just Irish...

A "banger" isn't a kind of Irish sausage. It's simply British slang for sausage. "Bangers and mash" is just sausages with mashed potatoes.

I wanted to go to RR in June because it sounds like a fun place but I am worried about the food. I love shepherd's pie but not when it is made with lamb...I won't even anything with sausages and don't like scallops. Plus dd who is 14 is the only kid on the planet who doesn't like chicken tenders. I can't go just for the bread pudding alone, has anyone else had this problem and it turned out well?

Well, I'm a vegetarian, and when I went two years ago they had a great mushroom risotto on the menu. Now they just have a mushroom "burger". There is a good bit of seafood other than scallops on the menu, how about some of that?

Scallop Forest and the Keen Eye for the Shepard's Pie.. YUMMMM. I'm drooling just thinking about it. Oh and definitely the bread pudding for desert. Ahh I hope I can go back soon. I just wish there wasn't so much loud music there.

We loved our dinner here (last may) DH and I got the scallop forest to share and mom and dad both got the drunk chicken. The chicken was a little dry, but the scallops were yummy (but really not enough scallops for the price.) Dad got the fish and chips which he loved, mom got the sesame seed haddock, which when it came out she made a funny face at, but when she tasted it she said it tasted much better than it looked. Danny got the steak which was fine and I got the It's Not Bleedin' Chowder. At first it was ok but once the flavors mixed it was really good. The mussels were too big for me to eat but there was plenty of other fish and scallops to eat instead.

Dad and DH had pints of Guinness and I had the beer flight. I liked the Smithwicks (?) the best so I ordered a pint after I finished the flight. They all had Irish coffee after the meal. For dessert mom and dad both got an apple pie/tart thing and DH and I split the sampler (so bummed this is gone now) It had the bread and butter pudding, the dunbrody kiss (chocolate mousse) and I think a berry and ice cream shell. OMG! I would just come back here just for the dessert. It was fantastic! Just before our desserts came, the band began to play and we sang and clapped along - it was a terrific night and we are going back in October!

The entertainment starts at 8. The menu is pretty expansive, so there are quite a few choices - chicken, fish, steak, etc. You only named 3 of the maybe... 10? entree choices. You should be fine. ;)

The best thing on the menu is actually a side dish.....colcannon. Think buttery mashed potatoes with bits of ham and cabbage. Killer.

FYI, Smithwicks is pronounced "Smit-icks"

Had the fish & chips, drunk chicken, & soup of the day-which was potato. All were very good & would happily order them again.

Pint of Guinness and an order of the bread pudding would make me a very happy person. ;)

The fish and chips were good.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought I've read on these boards that, regardless of what's on the children's menu at any restaurant, you can still order a normal, typical kids meal i.e. pasta, burger, chicken fingers, from any restaurant. If this is true, you can enjoy the authentic Irish menu and your DD can order something simple.

This may be true at "Disney-owned" restaurants, but Raglan Road is privately owned.

Can't believe no-one's mentioned this: Goats Town - Irish goats cheese terrine made with sauteed garlic, shallots, ****ake mushroom. Served with grilled crostini $9.95 It is unbelievable!! It's warm goat cheese with a crispy crust around it on a bed of greens. Soooo good!!!
