What's good at Kona Cafe for dinner?

Kona is my very favorite place to eat any meal. I really love the coconut almond chicken, it's wonderful, served with a really good salad. The Macadamia crusted mahi mahi is very good too. Also the Kona chowder is yummy, as are the pot stickers and crab cake appetizers. All the desserts I've had are great, too. :goodvibes

I always get the exact same thing so my opinion is somewhat limited, but my favorites are:
appitizer: Sticky Wings- these are the best wings I have EVER had!

entree: Shrimp and Scallops, the whole meal, including sides is AWSOME!

dessert: Chocolate Macadamia Nut Tart- they used to serve this with coconut ice cream and I liked that better than the vannilla now used, but the tart is out of this world!

I second the coconut almond chicken - holy cow was that ever a good meal! My DH constantly raves about the herb-roasted turkey medallions. I didn't even get to try any of those; I don't think he wanted to share with me! LOL It was a great meal and we plan on going back there in January! :cool1: I'm sure you can't go wrong! :thumbsup2

The food at Kona Cafe is sooooooooooooooooo amazing, you will love it!!!

I had the Kona Chowder which was so delicious but very filling and with hindsight I should maybe have had something a bit lighter! But what the heck, you're on holiday right? ;)

For the main course I would recommend the Macadamia Mahi Mahi, it was heavenly :cloud9: There aren't words to describe the whole dish, the risotto, the fish, the sauce, it was absolutely gorgeous! Again, couldn't get through more than half of it because the chowder was so filling! This is the one meal in my life I regret not having been able to finish, it was tragic!!! LOL! :rotfl2:

For dessert (yes I was greedy enough to try eating this) I had the cheesecake which looked delicious and the two bites I managed to eat were very nice as well.

Kona Cafe is one of these restaurants where you spend a lot of time looking at what everyone else is having because it all looks so good and the desserts on display are awesome!

I'm seriously craving this fish now...

Have a great meal and make sure you do a very descriptive meal review when you get back ;)

I had the charcrusted steak and my DH had the strip steak with pineapple, both were very good- tender and cooked just right.
We had the volcano cake and YUM! But you need to order some vanillia icecream with it.
My DD had the turkey and thought while the taste was fine the meat itself was overcooked and very dry, she loved the veg that came with it though.

We are planning on going here in june, probably ordering the steaks again!

We all love the Kona Chowder. I have had the almond chicken, my ds didnt care for the dressing on the side salad that came with it. DH got the macadamia mahi mahi and said it was great. I have also had the steak with pineapple, very good and the crab cakes, not a big portion for the price. They make a hamburger for youngest ds because he is so picky. For desserts we have had the kiddie cone, cheesecake (didnt care for that), banana creme brule (so good, I dont want to share it,), one of the ds had the chocolate cake, it was o.k. Most all of the food there is great. Enjoy.

We love the Kona Cafe too. On our last trip, we cancelled one of our ADRs so we could eat there a second time. My DH and DS loved the sticky wings. I got the crab cakes and they were good too. We both loved the Beef Teriyaki with mashed potatoes. That steak was awesome. I had it twice on our trip. For dessert, I had the Kilauea Torte. It was wonderful. This is really one of our favorite restaurants.

I think this is the meal I am most looking forward to on our upcoming trip. We have never eaten here and I'm so excited. You guys make everything sound wonderful.

I'm excited too, I'll be eating dinner at Kona Cafe on May 11.:goodvibes

sticky wings!!
Asian pan noodles!!
banana creme brulee!!!
I thought the almond chicken was a bit too sweet.
Breakfast is great here too!!

Starter: Crab Cakes
Entree: Coconut Almond Chicken - the salad with pineapple, strawberries and slivered almonds that accompanies it is to die for. I wish they would just have that with grilled chicken. Maybe I'll request that next time....hmmm
Dessert: Hands down the Chocolate Macadamia Nut Tart. Nothing else compares. :)
