I am trying some of the products now and have some questions. I have combination skin with adult acne. If I use products for oily skin or acne then it dries my face out too much. I have been using the 3 step program with classic skin care line creamy cleanser 2, hydrating freshner 1 and balancing moisturizer 2. It seems to be going ok but the moisturizer is too much for the day as I get oily. This morning I did not put on any moisturizer and my face feels like it needs something as it is a little tight. Would the time wise be better for me for day moisturizer under makeup? I need a light moisturizer for day - what do you recommend? Also, I am using the loose mineral powder. Do you need to keep adding more like Bare Minerals to get good coverage?
Also, is the toner absolutely necessary? I thought I heard that toners were old school and not necessary anymore.
These are great questions to go over with your consultant.
Just an FYI, acne doen't automatically mean your skin is oily. Sometimes skin over-produces oil due to dryness. In that case you might be better off with the normal/dry regimen. It sounds like the cleanser/toner are working for you, perhaps you just need to try a different moisturizer?
The TimeWise collect is meant to combine steps/products into one; the cleanser does 3 things, cleanser, exfoliate and tone (the exfoliants and toners are those little beads in the cleanser).
So while the Classic Basic of 5 steps (cleanse, exfoliate, tone, moisturizer and protect) have been simplified in the TimeWise set some people need to use them in separate products (such as skin too sensitive for the exfoliants in the TimeWise cleanser or who need customizer oil control).
Oh, another thought is perhaps the oil mattifier could be the answer to day time oiliness. The key to this is making sure your moisturizer is through absorbed and you skin is dry, then apply the oil mattifier and again be sure it is completely dry before applying our foundation of choice.
Regarding the mineral powder foundation - you start with a very thin layer and continue to add layers until you have the coverage you desire. For a regular day at home I use 2 thin layers, if it's an evening out or I might be photographed I use 4-5 layers. I also layer different foundations sometimes such as the tinted moisturizer under the mineral foundation or my regular foundation (I use full coverage due to dry skin) then 1 layer of mineral foundation over it.
HTH!
