What's going on with Splash Mountain?

No... and who's brainchild were all of these? Eisner's! Before we go bashing him for things that happened due to economics, 9/11 and everything else, I think we need to look at his early years and ask if we aren't being just a bit too harsh. Yes, maybe 22 years is a good reign and he needs to turn it over to new, innovative minds, as his was back in 1984.

I hardly think Eisner was personally responsible for coming up with all these ideas (although I'm sure he likes to claim he is.) Disney was full of creative people at that time, and Eisner has spent the last decade driving them all away. Is it a coincidence that the people at Disney's biggest competitors- Dreamworks and Pixar- used to be at Disney? How can you run a creative company when you drive all the creative people out of it?

at the end of the big drop--do they control the big splash--have done this on e-ride right night and have been soaked--where as in the after noons not as bad?? anyone know??

Jeffrey Katzenberg was responsible for the successful movies listed, Eisner thought Stitch was a "stupid idea". Eisner was pretty much responsible for Katzenberg leaving and forming Dreamworks. And costing the company millions in a lawsuit.

i loev the smell of the water in florida... it reminds me of WDW!!!!

My DD4 and I walked into a resort at Myrtle Beach ( we live 60 miles from there and get there really often for "mini vacations" to keep me sane) and there was that rotten eggs/mildew smell from a fountain in the lobby and she screamed "MOMMY!!! ARE WE AT DISNEY WORLD???"

too funny :rotfl2: I too love the smell of FL water...sometimes I can smell it in the parking ramp at work after a summer rain and I always tell my co-workers smells like WDW :)

Who isn't out for the "quick buck" anymore? Seems no one wants to do a job, run a company, etc. the "right" way or care about customers. So many now seem to only care about making the $$$ for themselves and everyone else can go pound sand. If you can't beat 'em - join 'em. . . . . :confused3

isn't that so true!!! let's cut the services cut the hours, bigger bonuses, so we can go and play golf some more!! NOT!! And they wonder why the sales have gone done and more customer complaints???? :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I asked about this, and the consesus seemed to be that it had to do with the way the weight in your log is distributed.

It wasn't an unofficial answer. Just something a few DISers came up with that sounds logical to me! :)

The water level seemed high though. A lot of people standing on the bridge were getting absolutely soaked when a log went down the big hill at the end.
Every third log boat coming down the big drop triggers a gigantic jet of water that soaks the folks on the bridge. This may be turned off when it is cold or when water conservation orders are in effect.

Particularly when boats are close together, the wake from one may affect who gets wet in the next boat. IN some areas including the bottom of the big drop, there are wide ponds where the wake may "reflect" back and forth.

Back in February, the part where Brer Rabbit is hopping with his bag packed over his shoulder, just across from where Brer Bear is caught in Brer Fox's trap, Brer Rabbit was broken. You could see his ears sticking up behind the grass, but not moving or speaking.

What bothered me is it was like that the next 2 days. Not sure if it has been fixed yet or not.
That was broken too when we went last May as well as the water jumping. And the little moleish gophery thing didn't come out of the ceiling.

hey it was like that in March of 2004 too. It worked the first day we were there but then it didn't work for the remainder of our trip. I hear that that is the most expensive animatronic on the ride too.

We were there at Christmas. The jumping water was not working at all during that time. Sometimes the fish was jumping, sometimes not. The biggest thing we noticed was the water spray tube by the bridge. We thought they turned it off at certain times. It usually wasn't working at night when it was most chilly. It seemed like they may control it at will based on outdoor temps. ?????

when i was there this past july i was concerned about Splash because of all of the stories about some animatronics that sometimes arent working properly. we waited for e-ride nights to ride SM so we could go multiple times. And we had a blast!! everything seemed to b working each and every time. i was able to really concentrate on different sections of the ride because there really is a lot going on in that ride.

what i wondering is since the offseason is a time for extensive re-habs, wouldnt this explain why there seems to be so many ride malfunctions during the off-peak period(not summertime). most of the available techies would be dealing with the rehabs.
