All of a sudden there are 6:30 AM flights listed from NY (JFK), but they are greyed out and say sold out. There is also an additional flight coming back that wasn't there before that says sold out. I'm bummed because had they had 6:30 listed a month or so ago, I wouldn't have flown in the evening before. Plus, prices up. I've never seen them add flights 90 days before, especially for Sept. What's up?

My flights were a little screwie last night too. I wondered if they were making some schedule changes. One of my flights disappeared and I checked my account and it was still there (Oct), so wondering if it's been cancelled.

The new flights might be consolidations of existing flights. A lot of airlines are planning on reducing capacity for the Fall.

Just checked this morning again and my flight was cancelled. I've been moved to the only other non-stop to Dulles. I had the 6:30PM flight and now I'm on the 1:30PM flight, so lost 5 vacation hours....ugh. So folks should check Jetblue for schedule changes for the fall. If your flight does not show up, you might want to check to see if you've been moved.

And should be prepared to do so for all other airlines too, except for Airtran and Southwest (who won't be canceling flights), over the next few weeks.

Just wanted to mention that when I was moved, I was moved to a flight that is grey and says sold out. I think they are just in a holding status while they move folks. That grey flight may be available later, but fuller. My cancelled flight does not show up at all on the website. My 1:30PM grey soldout was also not available when I booked, but it is now -- sounds like a similar situation for us too.

Boston too. I don't have my original flight numbers, but my outbound flight was changed from arriving at 4:55 to 6:08 :( but now my return flight leaves MCO at 6:55 :cheer2:

I check the flights every day and noticed the changes at White Plains yesterday. My mom and sister were booked on the 8:30ish PM flight because they were going down for the weekend and my sister (a teacher) had to work the full day to get the time off. The flight is no longer listed, and they've been moved to the 3:30ish flight, which they can't take.

Now I've got to call and try to get them on a later flight out of JFK. Which, needless to say, is a whole lot less convenient than White Plains.

Thanks for the heads up, Jet Blue - it would've been nice to get notification about the changes. What if I wasn't semi-obsessive about checking for price changes and didn't find this out for another three months??:sad2: I feel bad for the people who book and then don't check anything until a week before their trip!

Before you get too mad at JetBlue, wait a few days. JetBlue is usually the one airline that will notify its passengers of changes (by mail & phone) shortly after the changes are made, and not 2 weeks before the flights take place like Delta would do. Normally, your sister will get some kind of heads-up this week, which is still plenty of time to turn around. They are making the changes now, they can't send notices before!

Wait a few days for what? I've already called them to change the flights and was informed that the flight was cancelled due to "scheduled maintenance". Which is totally acceptable, but the flight was booked about six weeks ago..."scheduled" maybe should've been "scheduled" before tickets were sold.

I'm surprised that in this day and age of automation, customers aren't immediately notified if they have email noted on their reservation. I'm not asking for a personal phone call, I just am genuinely surprised.

Unfortunately, maintenance tends to be scheduled 4-5 months prior to flights (which, also, by the way, when consumer demand projections start coming into focus, so schedule changes also take place at that time based on consumer demand), but the public insists on buying tickets 11 months prior.

To avoid such perturbations, folks should wait to buy airline tickets until about 4-5 months prior to their flight.

That tends to cause a lot more cost than waiting to update customers until three weeks prior to flight-time, especially since in the interim the same itinerary may have been subject to even more changes. (Note: The notifications aren't the source of the cost, but rather fielding the telephone calls that result from the notifications.)

Especially with JetBlue, customers are notified on a timely schedule AND well in advance of the flight. July passengers need to be notified before August passengers, August passengers before September passengers...

Even though you've made your changes, JetBlue WILL still send you the automated notification you expect. That's happened to me before - I see the flight change while checking my reservation, I accept it online, and I still get the e-mail notification... usually about a week after the schedule change.

Ah, but I did wait. I bought my tickets a third of the way through May, for flights about 2/3 of the way through September - 4.5 months :teeth:

You know, I'll live. Once I get my e-mail/notice, I'll hope they'll let me change to a different flight. From what I recall, there's an option asking if this (their) change is acceptable.

It probably won't work - I'm 'only' arriving an hour and a half later than before. If I'd known JetBlue my ticket didn't guarantee a specific flight time... :umbrella:

Any suggestions for me? (sorry, OP, don't mean to hijack your thread)

I am watching a Jet Blue flight to Dulles on Oct 12th. I want the late night one, but am worried they will cancel or move me. SW isn't an option, since they leave earlier in the afternoon and I am greedy and want as much Disney as I can get.

If I book this week as planned, does anyone "think" I am safe, or should I wait?

There is no way of knowing. I booked the morning flight out of Dulles for Oct. 17 and the 6:30PM flight out of MCO home to dulles. While my morning flight to MCO stayed the same, my 6:30PM flight is gone now and they automatically moved me to the 1:15PM flight home. (I lost 5 Disney hours). They didn't notifiy me, but I did look at my trueblue account and saw that everyone in my party has been moved to the 1:15PM flight and we all still have seat assignments near one another. Sorry, there is no way of knowing if your flight will be changed. While my Saturday night 6:30PM flight got cancelled, the Friday 6:30PM flight is still there, so no pattern.

Out of 4 RT, there was one flight change. I called they asked if this was acceptable to me, I said it was.

I was wondering the same thing about Southwest. Watching and waiting for fares to go down in Sept. and they go up 20$ in the last 2 weeks . Guess I'll wait somemore. :surfweb:
