I noticed that many of you on the DIS only ship to the USA...

That's sad, because many of us here in Canada would be interested in bidding but cannot. Most of us are willing to pay extra to have it delivered to Canada, so you really have nothing to loose... Maybe a little 2 minutes extra at the Post Office (no extra minutes if you ship with Paypal - love this!) but you would get a LOT more buyers...

Bo'sMom: I'd be interested in both your items... Why don't you ship to Canada???

I ship internationally but I only use Global Priority or Global Express. I no longer ship Surface or Airmail due to too many lost and/or damaged packages.
I haven't had any missing or damaged packages in 5 years of using strickly GP and GE.

There are restrictions on what shipping method you can use in order to use PayPal shipping. I can't use small GP flat rate envelope and print with PayPal.

I have also had people ask me to mark the item as "GIFT". Be careful if you decide to do this. You are signing your name to a federal form stating what you have listed on the form is correct. Marking the package as GIFT when it isn't is illegal.

Trying to pad my Xmas spending and have listings for 3 sets of the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse figures-1 set ends in about 6 hours. I also have a complete MM Clubhouse with figures,car & phone. All are Buy-it now.
I have 4 listings with buy-it-now/best offer on the Disney Pixar Cars-they are grouped in lots of 12-some very hard to find.

Getting ready to list the 2 pack of Woody/Buzz-I have 5 avail.

DH and I are selling some View Master reel sets (including some Disney sets), but the shocker for me is a pot holder. It is from EPCOT's Kitchen Kabaret, and the current high bid is $76! WOW!

Last night I listed a few items: Yankee Candle Jack Frost tealights with a metal snowman holder/burner, YC red ornament tealight burner, a YC small jar shade(polka dots!), Crabtree & Evelyn masks, Winnie the Pooh glass ornaments from WDW, 50th Anniversary antenna topper from WDW, various stuffed dolls;Bert,Ernie,Elmo & Homer Simpson, and some Zirh men's skin care products. Should be listing more within the next couple of days....How many more days till X-Mas?? Oh MY!!

I just started selling on Ebay as we are really struggling this year.

We have had some high unplanned for expenses this year, and a few folks, here on the DIS, suggested I get into Ebay.

Since a lot of what we own is second hand, I don't have any personal stuff I would sell. So for all you here, do you sell your own stuff? buy to sell? how do you determine what to buy if so?

Also, I have been seeing a lot of complaints about Ebay lately, especially from sellers.

Is Ebay still a good avenue for earning extra income? is the return worth the time and energy investment?

I don't think e-bay is a way to "make" money, as suggested.

You have a listing fee, ending fee, and paypal fee for receiving the payment for your goods.

You also have the packaging materials to buy.

People buy "mainly" on e-bay to get something for a bargain.

Every once in a while someone will buy on e-bay and not understand the whole system.

Unless you have items that will sell, I don't recommend you sell on e-bay to "make" money. It just doesn't happen to the normal housewife.

There are many people who bid and win and never pay and that is a hassle that I don't care to handle.

If you want to do it for fun and have the extra money, then try it and see how it goes.

If you have unplanned expenses for the year, a small job in your area would make you more money than e-bay to pay them off.

just my 2 cents - don't flame me, just the way I feel - I have sold on e-bay for 6 years now and it is a lot of work and don't care to do it anymore.

P.S. I HAVE FOUND THAT A YARD SALE IN MY AREA ABOUT EVERY 6-7 MONTHS BRINGS BETWEEN $400 AND $500

Today I'll be listing some Princess toys and jewelry, and some vintage Disney figurines.

I always have key rings and magnets in my ebay store. Great for stocking stuffers.

I have found that eBay makes me some extra money for vacations. If you have unexpected expenses, I guess it wouldn't hurt to try it out.

From my experience, my used clothes and toys sell much better than the few things I purchased to resell. For example, last year after Christmas, I purchased a few Christmas/holiday infant sweaters with matching hats at Target when they had those 90% off. I listed them on eBay and they didn't sell. But my used clothese and toys, etc. always sell.
