What's confirmed and not confirmed for the Disney parks in Florida?

Installing a new screen and projector shouldn't take more than a week. Its really not that big or hard of a job to do.

The projector is not a routine swap, but you are right shouldn't take more than a week. The screen though is made of perforated metal on a giant scaffolding. (One of the coolest things you could ever do in life is to watch the Soarin' movie from behind the screen) If they WERE to change out the screens (not sure why they would) it would probably take several weeks minimum.

Well I hope Indy, cars land, marvel could still have a place at DHS once all the new changes are announced. When do you think we'll hear the rest of the Walt Disney world parks and resorts announced for the future & beyond for all 4 parks? The answer to your question is "who knows". We all assumed that the re-do of DHS would be announced as a parcel, including the name change but clearly now this is not the case. Could be months, could be years before they announce anything more. Iger may be holding that back for an investor call.

The other fact is EVERYTHING is just a rumor. Just because a "reliable" source says its so doesn't mean its going to happen.

Heck just because Disney announces it doesn't mean its going to happen. (Have you spent a lot of time at Hyperion Wharf? How about Pixie Hollow at MK? Both things officially announced and then canceled.) The Frontierland rumor has been around for several years. The Monster Inc. coaster for at least 8 years.

Could other things be coming in the timeframe of these recent announcements? Sure - they could announce in January a re-do of the Imagination Pavillion. Again - who knows?

the short version:

New restaurant for jungle cruise
14 acre star wars last for HS (largest ever expansion) with 2 new rides + fireworks display
Toy Story Land for HS (you walk into andy's backyard). 2 new rides, 1 is a claw ride, the other is a family coaster you ride on slinky dog
star tours will get an update for the new film in the meantime.
TSMM is now getting 2 new tracks, not just a second for a total of 3 tracks so more can ride with less wait.
avatar is not going to be highlights of the film, named pandora and it's exploring the world
night show at animal kingdom looks like animal version of fantasmic to me.
AK KS will be longer with some new animals and they are going to "extend dusk" and go a little noctural for later rides, not just a couple hours later.

Search D23 in youtube and you'll easily find dozens of videos from a lot of people about it who recorded the actual announcement panel. The Dis unplugged shows (2 per day) did a pretty good verbal rundown of everything.,

If in fact there was only one running track, increasing to three tracks would be a 200% increase.

Since there are 2 tracks running now, as there has always been, increasing to three tracks is a 50% increase, and 50% more people will be able to ride when the third track opens. the number of the counting shall be three. thou shalt not count 4, nor shalt thou count 2, lest it be followed by 3. 5 is right out.

Do you know that for a clear fact that DHS will do nothing for Indy? With a rumored fifth Indiana jones film coming out...maybe you weren't aware of this....I don't think it's totally impossible for Disney Hollywood studios to add a newer version of a Indiana jones ride-something totally different from its sister parks at Tokyo Disney Sea-Temple of the Crystal Skull, Disneyland Paris Indy coaster, or Disneyland(Anaheim) temple of the forbidden eye. Indy getting a fresh reboot too in Hollywood it's not just Star Wars. Both Lucasfillm franchises always have a place on my heart. They haven't even said if tower of terror is safe-heard a rumor it will be changed into tangled??? I hope not, what about rock n roller coaster, LMA SHOW, beauty and the beast? IJESS-even though you said your 100% sure it's not coming. A rumor I have heard is that Disneyland Shanghai will be adding the Indy epic stunt spectacular from WDW.

There's certainly a possibility that they'll add/redo Indy in the parks...

But the bigger point is that there is no guarantee of ANYTHING other than ticket and hotel increases at wdw. That is guaranteed.

Star Wars...the largest licensed property in history (40 billion worth over its history several years ago when i saw the numbers)...has 6 movies, a cartoon show, a live action show, dozens of video games, and a legion of Chinese plastic descending on us starting RIGHT NOW...

And what they have "announced " is...

Something...sometime...not sure yet....

So Indy will definitely be renewed in media for profit - absolutely no question.

I suspect that if "Lone Ranger" had been hit, then it would have ended up with a new attraction in Frontierland. obviously theres no way is that going to happen now.

It's hardtop think of a single new IP that would fit in Frontierland at the moment. Woody & his Western friends from Toy Story would make sense but with the Toy Story Land in DHS, it's not happening.

What I would like to see is a family ride which takes you through different American legends/Myths, so stuff like Davy Crockett, Peco Bill, Johnny Appleseed, Ichabod Crane, etc.

I always took it as they were doubling what was there but quick searching I do see my error and it was always just a third track coming.

One widely-circulated tale claims that "Star Wars land" was delayed by the Board's insistence that it be focused on the forthcoming films rather than Episodes I - VI. And the plans announced at D23 seem to bear that out.

If true, I would expect them to take the same stance toward Indiana Jones. If Disney is going to invest any new dollars into Indiana Jones theme park content, the safe bet is they will wait until production is well under way on a reboot of the film series, and have the new park attraction(s) designed to tie into the new films.

Good to know. I'm looking forward to the digital upgrade. I've heard from people who've done both that the Anaheim version is crisper than its Epcot counterpart. I enjoyed Soarin at Epcot, but the projection was definitely less focussed than I was expecting.

It's generally believed that the environment / weather in Florida affects the film faster than it does in California - though I never really understood that because you would have to assume the projector room would be temperature/humidity controlled. I can tell you it did look better in California. I can also tell you that according to the folks that run Soarin', the film is changed about 3 times per year, so the reason for the deterioration is not an "old print".

Also, Anaheim has already switched to digital. The whole Soarin' area there was rethemed, so the area was closed for several months, so we can't tell from it how long it took to switch over the theater.

What is supposed to happen in Florida is the third theater will open right away with the new digital projection. Once it opens one of the other theaters will go down for how ever long it takes to get the digital projection in that theater and then the last theater will go down when the other two are done.

I always assumed that would be how they would do it as to minimize the impact. The implication there is that the new theater will be on-line next year then.

I've thought about whether the old movie will disappear completely. It's enjoyable and I will miss it. Everyone is clamoring for the new movie, but you can bet once most Disney fans have seen it a couple of times, they'll start to moan about missing the old movie.
