whats black friday?

sounds like fun, but what is it? i am canadian and am starting to think its like our boxing day. is it? what does black mean?

It's the day after thanksgiving when everybody goes shopping. There are usually good sales and deals and stores open very early. It's called "Black" because it's generally the day when retailers make enough money to become profitable for the year or "In the black."

It's also the biggest shopping day of the year. BF is a mad house as many people line up at stores hours before they open to reap the major price cuts on highly desired items.
