Of course, we're old Disney fans with daughters in tow - 12 years old and 7 years old. They have grown up eating with Minnie and Pooh, so we're trying to make a new jump to Universal, but include the character dining experience. Any ideas or recommendations? Grandma is footing the bill!:goodvibes

as a teen myself and having to experience all sorts of character dining locations i would suggest you try the following places for kids
Mel's Drive-In:traditional burger and chicken fingers- universal
Kid Zone Pizza Company : again traditinal buger and pizza
not much character dining such as magic kingdom or any other disney park but in islands of adventure try eating at green eggs and ham its fun for the kids and right in suess landing how this is of help

you can do the breakfast at Islands of Adventure at Confisco's (You need reservations for this).....and check with The Kitchen at the Hard Rock Hotel, they have character diningon some nights.

Don’t Miss the Character Breakfast at Islands Of Adventure!

Breakfast is not just the most important meal of the day…now it’s the most fun!

Bring the whole family and enjoy breakfast with Spider-Man™ and The Cat in the Hat™ at Islands of Adventure’s Confisco Grille®, each Thursday through Sunday morning from park opening to 10:30 a.m.

The breakfast is $15.95 for Adults and $9.95 for children, plus tax and gratuity. Call 407-224-4012 for reservations

Can anyone give me a better idea of what characters are at the character breakfast in IOA? I want to see if it is worth our while. We normally partake in alot in disney because those characters are old time favs, but I am not a dr. suess character fan (ok shoot me!) even though I do love the books. :guilty: There seem to be so many great characters in these parks I was hoping for some of them. thanks for any info-:thumbsup2

US/IOA doesn't use their marketing of characters the same way that Disney does. I mean, you will see the occassional characters standing to the side to sign autographs (Dora Dora the Explorer, Shrek, Fiona, Spiderman, Cat in the Hat, Popeye, Grinch, etc.) but most of the performers you'll see walking around will be geared more toward the older crowd (Marolyn Monroe, Egyptian Stilt Walkers, Zorro, hell, I even saw the Blues Brothers walking around). So if you're looking for characters that are old time favorites, you'll most likely find them randomly throughout the park rather than at some character breakfast.

To tell you the truth, if there was some form of character breakfast, I would not know what characters they would throw in there. Granted, Islands like Toon Lagoon, Marvel Super Hero Land, and Seuss Landing all have a wealth of characters but none that can signify both parks like Mickey. Hell two of the islands such as Jurassic Park and the Lost Continent don't have any central characters at all.

All in all, if you're looking for a character breakfast that is on par with disney, I do not think you'll find one here. Disney has perfected it!

I went to the character breakfast last year at Confisco. Spiderman, Cat in the Hat, Thing 1, and Thing 2 were there. It was a fun time. Food was buffet style and the Character interaction was great. If you want to see characters like Scooby Doo, Dora, Curious George, and Woody Woodpecker you should check the schedule on the map because they were out daily to sign autographs.

Perfect info thanks to all! Now a Blue Man Group question- what ages would enjoy it?
