Lapu Lapu? What is it? Did I even spell it right? I have seen many a pic of this pineapple drink looking thingie, but have no idea what's in it. Can someone enlighten me? Is it a cocktail, cause I sure could use a drink at the end of a magical day.

here you go:

Lapu Lapu - Tropical fruit juices and Myers dark rum served in a fresh pineapple topped with Bacardi 151 $12.75
(taken from allears menu)

It is served at the Tambu Lounge at the Polynesian Resort. You can also order it at 'Ohana and most likely Kona Cafe as well. It is delicious!!! Enjoy!!

That reminds me of a question I've been meaning to ask. Our first night at WDW, we want to get a spot on the Polynesian beach and watch Wishes.

Does anyone know if I can get a beverage at Tambu Lounge and take it down to the beach or do beverages have to be consumed in the lounge?

Definitely try one. I had one for the first time last month while dining at 'Ohana. It was sooooooo gooooood! I am not much of a drinker. I tend to like the fruity drinks. One was plenty for me. But I will definitely be having another one when we head back in October.:)

:goodvibes THANKS!!! I will be ordering atleast one of those during our trip!

Great question! I would love to know the open container rules at the Poly too. Maggie

Ok, posted the open container question over on the resorts board. It's no problem! I had forgotten about one major contributing factor.....POOL BARS!

If you are at the Tambu Lounge, just let the bartender know that you would like a to go cup and they will be glad to set you up to wonder and sip and later crawl and sip and later still wake up in a hammock with an empty cup in your hand. :rotfl2: Maggie

that looks sooo yummy, and I rarely drink! My question is, if I'm feeling lucky (or maybe DH should be:rolleyes1 ) can I get one of these concotions at the Spirit of Aloha show? We are eating breakfast at 'Ohanas, and then not going back except for the show. I certainly would not have one of these with an 8 am ADR, but might with an 8 PM dinner ressie. TIA!

I asked for a Lapu Lapu to go once and the bartender still gave it to me in the actual pineapple! We strolled out to the end of the dock and watched the Electrical Water Pagent. :)

Just as an FYI - You can get it at Kona!! I got one in Jan. and it was so good!!! But, yeah, one was plenty enough!!! ;)

Lapu Lapu's are mai tais served in the pineapple and topped with the Bacardi 151. Don't know if it's a general rule or because of my size (let's hope it wasn't anything else:rotfl2: ) but I was told 2 was the max and after that had to switch to a regular size mai tai without the "topper". A friend and I started with Lapu Lapus during our "monorail drink-a-thon" and if I do say so myself, it started us up pretty good...

Yea I would like to know also. We are doing the Luau on our upcoming trip.
