Whats a lanyard? Needed for room key?

Saw somewhere about lanyard and holepunch. Is this something to wear around the neck and place your room card? I will be staying at RPR, putting room card around neck would help with not having to pull it out of pocket, waist pack, etc.

I use a lanyard that we got when we bought the express passes for HHN. It has a little plastic pocket the size of the room keys.

Oww-is it like a suitcase tag-put card in and has a clear plastic cover? You could make a hole in it with a holepuncher and thread some type of necklace through it?

i always thought the lanyard was the cloth "necklace" part, with a metal clip/keyring type of thing at the end. the card holder would be separate i guess?

They sell lanyards in the RPR store. You do not need your card punched as it will simply slide into the little wallet-on-a-rope.

Thanks Damo, Are these things expensive? Maybe I could find some before we go. Is the wallet on a rope for your neck or wrist?Sorry to ask so much, trying to make trip as problem free as possible.

I think they were $4.00. They were sitting on the counter and looked like they would be perfect for all the rides.

I got one for .97 cents at Wal-Mart that worked great! You can get them over in the jewelry dept. by the wallets. It's a black strap with a velcro closure with a plastic holder attached to it that "zips" closed like a ziplock bag does. They were great and convenient to not have to dig for them every time we wanted to go through express! Sometimes (but not always) when we went through the line they scanned the card so you still have to take it out sometimes but it's right there so still more convenient.

Careful with those $.97 numbers. DD10 got one at a Dollar Store and the necklace tore through the "leather" in the first hour at the park.

No "leather" on the ones we got, just good old cheap plastic and the strap was kind of like shoe strings but I pulled and pulled on them before I got them to make sure they were sturdy.

I bought lanyards the other day for our trip & they were only the string part with metal keyring/clip at the end. Will these work for our room keys? Or will I need to go back out & buy the plastic card holder to attach to the end. I'm assuming the room keys are plastic, but can anyone tell me if they are the flimsy plastic or are they credit card type plastic? I'm going to hope that the resort clerk will be able to punch holes in them to hang from the lanyard if I won't need the plastic card holder. Thanks for any help on this, my trip is sooooooo close & I must really be desperate to sponge up any info. to heighten the excitement!

The room keys are credit card type plastic. I have heard that they will punch your cards but I have never had it done.

I plan on buying a lanyard at Universal when we get there, so hopefully they will have the clear plastic type thing to put our Room Keys in.

Thanks for the info. damo....of course my obsessive/compulsive side will now not be able to function unless I traipse myself right over to Walmart to buy the plastic holders for the lanyards just in case I can't get them punched. Good thing there's a Walmart within walking distance of my house. I should own stock in that store!

I got some really cute lanyards at our local Family Dollar with spongebob and patrick.

No luck on finding the plastic pouches at my Walmart. Tried near the jewelry (where the lanyards were)....no luck. The jewelry clerk suggested to try by the wallets, but they weren't there either. I'm thinking she misunderstood me & thought I meant the plastic pouches used in wallets. Any other suggestions on where to find the pouches anyone?

I prefer the lanyards found in all the Universal stores though, because of the zipper pocket for change and other pockets for credit cards and dollar bills.

I have both the Walmart ones and the lanyard from Universal. I seldom use the Walmart ones but use the Universal one whenever I go to the parks. It saves me from carrying a purse.
